It's a relevant comparison. I enjoyed Avatar as well.

Re: Latest movie you watched (1-10 scale)
The Hunger Games - 2/10 fucking whatever. For a 2 and a half hour movie it's rushed the entire way through. No weight. No emotion, No meaning. No good. No care.
I can't possible see anyone having not read it first getting anything at all out of this and people who did will get a shitty movie. I counted over a dozen times something that I saw or heard that will have absolutely no meaning at all to anyone who hasn't read it because they don't explain why or what the significance is of huge plot points. One of the worst edited films I've seen. A complete mess all over the place. I think I completely misjudged the audience for this thing. To put it in perspective I was in a full 500 person theatre and everyone of them clapped after the Twilight trailer. To put it in another perspective I thought Sucker Punch was a better movie.
Jennifer Lawrence is other worldly but even she can't save this disaster. How it is getting acclaim reviews is so far beyond my comprehension.
For the sake of people here I have to say avoid at all costs but I kind of want people to know just how bad it is.

Search says this hasn't been posted yet... possibly WIOT, but here it is. Iron Sky. Udo Kier as a space Nazi. Pure genius.

it was posted once and then someone made a thread about it, so that's why people won't be posting their "FUCK YEAH" reactions again

21 Jump Street - 8/10 - Way funnier than I anticipated. Stupid, a lot of cliches, but a ton of laughs.

Re: Latest movie you watched (1-10 scale)
i haven't read any of the books, but i saw this last night and i agree 100%. much like US girl with the dragon tattoo (which i really hated), there were a lot of points where i assumed whatever was happening would have actually had some context and been interesting to someone who read the book, but they meant nothing in the movie itself or weren't explained at all.The Schwartz wrote:I counted over a dozen times something that I saw or heard that will have absolutely no meaning at all to anyone who hasn't read it because they don't explain why or what the significance is of huge plot points. and i guess i can see how the books would be better than the movie, but not even the basic story was good enough to make me want to check them out. a charitable 3/10.
gonna finally watch the antichrist tonight though. i've had a string of shit movies and i hope this breaks it

Re: Latest movie you watched (1-10 scale)
I still recommend the book, the movie just failed on every level to convey the best parts of the book and I cannot fucking stomach the fact that it made 68 million dollars on Friday alone. Especially for something that may go down as one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
Antichrist is pretty good and will definitely be even better after the pile of shit you just sat through.
