she's simply the most talented and consistent pop artist/musician to emerge in the last 20 years

But this isn't true. She's one out of many, the same thing could be said for...I dunno, Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse, Katy Perry, Christina Aguilera, Nora Jones, whatever. Yeah, she has "weird" costumes, but at the end of the day it's certainly nothing more than pop music.
