i find it weird that nine inch nails just keeps on going.

maybe part of it stems from never really liking them that much from the get go.

when i hear them it makes the 90s seem like a distant memory.

I really wanted new NIN to sound like the Girl with the Dragonn Tattoo OST. Those tracks were so good. This just sounds like he's trying too hard. It's just fun time music with dumb, literal lyrics. I kind of had the same reaction when With Teeth first came out. I'm hoping there will be some gems when the album is released.

I don't think the dude's desperate - he's in love with his toys and comes up with an excuse to make records around them every chance he gets.

some of the music he's come up with in the last five years has been fine - not great or amazing or whatever, but not laughable either.

then he opens his mouth and it's 100% :fp:

still think Broken and The Downward Spiral are great records - the remixes/EPs around them are still awesome too

Actually...

He just needs to stick with composing instrumentals because he's been getting really great at it. It's different than, 20 years ago, but still good.

those Aphex tracks are cool
I always thought the one was a Coil cover - same title, similar-ish melodies

unspoilered for truth purposes. fuck it, i think the fragile is very solid too. i still have a weird respect for reznor, but i agree his vocals and lyrics typically do nothing but diminish the quality of his music overall (especially in the last decade+)

I'm digging this new track more than a lot of the slip and most of withah teethah personally. I've accepted that new-nin albums have a lot of stinkers on it but there's always a few tracks that I really enjoy, so I'm looking forward to hearing those on this new album.

Also yeah. The Fragile was great. a double album and the majority of the tracks were good. That's gotta be difficult to pull off.

The Fragile was OK
that was the point I lost interest, and it never entirely came back. there were some cool things on there, but it could have been broken down into a single, excellent disc.

these three would be on there

Let's be honest: it sounds likes I should be expecting PSY to sing over this track.

I'm not much of a NIN fan, but I've been fine with some of their material up through Year Zero and some of the HTDA stuff is worthwhile, too, but this just isn't cutting it.

La Mer is such a great track. The whole album is really good, if you ask me.

Do any other NINfaggots like Year Zero? I stopped paying attention around The Fragile era but the alternate reality bullshit around YZ piqued my interest a little. When I first heard it I cringed at how juvenile and silly Trent's vocals sounded to me as a grown-ass man...BUT after dozens of listens during my morning commute I fucking love everything about it, and wouldn't trade Trent's faux-rapping about the gubmint for anything.

It's honestly probably my favorite NIN album at this point, although Broken is still neck-and-neck. The cover of "Physical" is still the stripper-iest song ever made.

this ex i just broke up with. we had this one fight where i was wearing this shirt my brother got at specs in the 90s. it was nin fixed and it had bleach stains all over it and id wear it inside out. black shirt with a lone blue n on it. fucking one of my most cherished possessions. so soft and perfect. she got into this crazed jealous rage and she ripped my shirt off of me like some wrestling promo and i drove home with it hanging off of me..

oh and i had the quake soundtrack for some reason and listened to that a lot and realized i was probably into 'experimental music' because of it. so i guess theres that too..

Shit like this and instrumental albums are the only reasons I'd pay attention to him as a musician/producer or whatever... fucking awful frontman though. The last minute of, say, "The Hand That Feeds" sounds SO DUMB
