I missed this interview awhile back but apparently Far Cry 3 is some sort of satirical commentary about video game violence and player super soldier bullshit. Apparently quoting Alice in Wonderland, annoying characters, and uninspired fetch, lazy game design and repeating game mechanics = satire.

Between that game and the Assassins Creed games, Ubisoft sure has the most retarded and pretentious writers in games. Good lawd.

So, EA insists that Dead Space get a broader appeal and use universal ammo and become more of a shooter to get more people to buy the game. Game doesn't sell FIVE MILLION FUCKING COPIES, so they axe the series.

I'm sick of hearing about it everywhere I look. No one follows through with their empty threats of boycots or whatever. The only EA games I can think I bought within the last 10 years were sports titles. I'll still buy them, I don't give a fuck. I honestly don't know why people complain about EA. I'm not boycotting EA. Wouldn't matter if I did. EA is the Sims, Bejeweled, Plants vs Zombies, Madden, Tetris, FIFA, and motherfucking Connect Four. EA is pulling in all sorts of money that I'm not giving them, already.

I forgot to mention during the intro credits that it said that 5 studios produced it.

Gearbox will escape this unscathed. No one has any morals anymore. Once some new BL2 DLC is announced the hypocritical masses will bum rush to buy it. Meanwhile, SEGA will never try another Aliens game anytime soon, and those other little studios will take any real fallout, no doubt closing, and will be the ones blamed in later history.

i'm gonna get it later today. haven't gotten a new (non-PSN) game in almost a goddamn year and it looks cool enough. will report findings.

also, the ending to the walking dead wasn't anything i was expecting, so i give them credit for that. episode 5 did seem REALLY short, like barely over an hour. still the best game i've played in a long time though

Not gonna happen. EA is the king of sports games and has little to no competition besides basketball. FIFA, Madden, NHL (? not sure how well those sell), The Sims and Battlefield games basically print money.

They had something of competition maybe half a decade ago when 2k made a superior game for a couple years, but pretty much no one bought it so EA won despite inferior product by virtue of being EA

Started playing Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker on Gamecube again recently. I started from the beginning because I don't think I ever beat it, and my last saved game was from 2008. Such a great game.

Also busted out EA's MVP Baseball 2004 for the Gamecube, since it's Spring Training season. Might be the best baseball game I've ever played, to be honest. And the players from that era are ridiculous. Nomar and Manny are an automatic HR on every fastball, it's ridiculous. Homerun derby mode is fun as hell too.

EDIT: Wife and I bought Super Mario World to play through the Wii, and holy shit, is the controller set-up bad when you use a Gamecube controller in place of a "classic" controller. It was so bad that I went to Gamestop and put down $15 on a "Classic" controller because the game was almost unplayable with the Gamecube button layout.

digging tomb raider so far. i love the darker vibe and survival type aspects.

and i like how this semi-open world island is split into section, each with their own set of collectibles and challenges (and it tells you what % of that section you have completed)

i might even go for the collectibles this time. it's waaaaaaaaaaay nicer when it's broken down like that

yeah, kinda reminds me of arkham asylum the way it's broken down and how you can return to previous areas with new abilities and what not (based on what i've read).

probably one of my favorite things about it so far is how minimal and relatively unobtrusive the tutorial stuff is. i can't believe assassin's creed 3 even exists in the state it does. you're in tutorial mode for about 4-6 HOURS in that fucking game
