I feel the same way about most fan subcultures surrounding most things I love, though... so... maybe it's just me.

No, gaming is by far the worst. I interact with people online about pretty much all my hobbies, and the one group of fans that I find almost impossible to have any kind of conversation with is "gamers". Every single message board for every game ever is a black pit of negativity. 90% of the people are just there to bitch about what a shit game it is and how they hope everyone at the company dies. The sole exception I've come across being the Witcher boards.

online game discussions are way less annoying (and less outright evil) than any place where anyone posts anything political. head on over to breitbart or something like that for quick proof

the other factor with game discussions is there's ALWAYS a good chance that the people having the discussions are like 13 years old. i don't take comments on stories too seriously because in the back of my mind i'm always aware it could be a kid posting from 8th period study hall after he just finished his math homework or something

i think it's a good policy to avoid reading comments basically anywhere though

Yeah, I've seen more people threaten rape over video game-related topics than I have in political ones, to be totally honest.
How dare you say that. Prepare; I'm going in dry.

Bought System Shock 2, Undying, and Judge Dredd vs Death off of GOG.

I was pondering getting a Steam box... well, I'm was going to research the fuck out of it once revealed, anyhow, playing GOG games is a must. If you can only install Steam than it can fuck off.

word record beat for quickly finishing Metroid. It's one of the more famous games to run through quickly, since it's old and well-loved and at the time really was quite inviting because of its open structure.

Who is she and why is she doing that? Is she my girl friend? Is she my enemy? Is she my frienemy with benefits? Is she my enemiend with Starbuck gift cards? I don't want to know, because I'm grown up now and have responsibilities. I NEED to know.

Made it to the final castle in wonderboy in monsterland, only to discover that if you die in it, you can't continue and have to start over

Or throw your controller and swear and quit playing
