No way. That makes them way funnier. You have to read them in his voice with What his emotion would be.spacehamster wrote:Not yet. I really wish he'd learn to keep his e-mails a bit shorter, though.Magick Sam wrote:anyone check out this tig notaro set he's spreading around?

I did, it's alright. Pretty short but good. I've never heard anything from her, not that I can remember, so it was pretty dry and dry humor isn't always the funniest the first time around.

I've listened to a bunch of her stuff. It's low-key but usually pretty funny.

Seeing the guy tomorrow night - anyone attend a show in the last month? I wasn't blown away by the $5 internet download performance so my expectations are pretty low.

Re: A little dose of Louis CK for ya...
when I saw him 2 years ago I was pretty blown away, and since then some of those $5 internet downloads have had some of the same material sprinkled throughout. May have been on the same tour/"campaign" since he claims he discards all material for new stuff for each tour, so he's probably gonna have something completely fresh, more or less.

I saw him last month and thought he was pretty great. All new material as far as I could tell. Todd Barry opening was a nice surprise as well.

You think so?altars of radness wrote:He was pretty good on SNL a few weeks ago.
It was OK, I guess. His intro stand up about the old lady at the airport was the best part.
That one skit, when he screwed up the mark blowing the horn the first time it was kinda funny, maybe even the first 2 times were incidental, but then he forced it...
Seeing him in PHX before XMAS. Shit sold out fast up here, and all over, from what I gather.

Re: A little dose of Louis CK for ya...
Show was pretty good last night. My complaint about the last set of his I saw (the $5 download) was that it was too kid-centric. This one was also somewhat kid-centric...
The opener was a piece of shit I did not enjoy. This stung all the worse because I was expecting Todd Barry
It's weird being in a crowd full of people just READY to laugh. People laugh way too fucking hard - some of the stuff is contemplative or understated and people are going nuts. I dunno. It was a really good set.

but most of the scenarios involved kids dying.

yeah the first maybe 20 minutes of bill burrs set was people laughing hard as hell at really inconsequential things but he kinda dragged the set into deeper water in the last 30 or so and the laughs were huge and really well earned and genuine. its amazing to see a master work a crowd like that..

I finally watched Oh My God and it ruled, took it to some next level shit without half of it being about his kids (which is still funny usually)

So, opinions on yesternight's triumphant return? I thought the first one was a bit meh, but the second one was gold.
