I have a computer I built from scratch specifically to run win98-DOS games natively!

Just mounting and installing the ISO of a game from 99 onward may work. If the title can be sourced from GOG it will absolutely work. Same with Steam.

XP and 7 should be able to run most of those titles under compatibility mode - not hard, just some right clicking and checking some boxes.

That often doesn't work 100 percent accurately, but if the game has any sort of following a short Google search will more than likely reveal some patch or solution.

After all of this, there is of course DOSBOX... Which I do not like for anything made after 1991 or so.

If you do get up or into anything just hit me up and we'll figure out wtf you need to do.... And that's even assuming it doesn't work right away

i use dosbox for everything up to 95, but i've gotten very good at messing with it to get what i want.

something like neverwinter nights, i'd just pirate the GOG version and call it a day since you already own the game.

but james is right, the vast majority of games from '95 onward work perfectly fine in compatibility mode, and the ones that don't have communities dedicated to getting them to work - final fantasy vii, for example.

even whatever year that was when rott came out it was really bad..

haha, no way! the retail version came out in '95 and was so much fun. it had thirty-two player modem play that included the first version of capture the flag.

remake idea is fucking dumb though - looking forward to the tekwar reboot

Tried a little Secret of Mana the other day. I'm going to be honest and tell you I'm not a fan of the stamina swing bar nor the cute enemies. Tell me the bar improves drastically as I level up.

Regardless, I bought a Wii HDMI converter to I might just hold off till it arrives. I'm not hoping for anything drastic, but 1080p has to be some sort of improvement, and I'm mostly doing it for Metriod Prime.

My HDTV is some sort of magic beast that has yet to disappoint. It's an up-scaling monster. Metatron for visuals. Freaking Resident Evil and Silent Hill looked damn good for the kind of graphics the PSOne was throwing up at me. I have no doubts that the Wii won't look a tad better. Smaller jags and more vibrant colors for sure. Sharper picture perhaps.

Capcom didn't make it. New IPs from unknown studios never get good review scores. Destructoid 60, IGN 59 Both of those scores tell me it's worth buying at a discounted price and that I'll have a lot of fun with it.

Reading a few more articles, it sounds like Bethesda/Zenimax likes to fuck over studios and consumers more than perhaps EA. Not fully paying a Russian studio / publisher a decade ago, screwing over Obsidian on Fallout: New Vegas, PS3 Skyrim, etc. etc.

Awesome homie. It's crazy how teevees all show different shit these days given all the possible combinations of hardware, settings, input etc - used to be pretty damn uniform.

I know a dude who put down Skyward Sword in disgust because his plasma (I think) mutilated it so badly. If you're getting a good picture from a PS1 you should be rockin <3

Does anybody else 'like' Resident Evil 4 on Facebook? Whoever runs the page has been spewing some very peculiar shit into my feed - screenshots of handjob videos, pictures of feces, and just recently what appears to be a girl with an animal coming out of her anus.

I sorta assumed that it's some weird hijack thing, like a malicious spambot program got ahold of the profile's password/login... but I'm not really sure. It might be intentional... if it is, I don't know how they're getting away with it. There's porn on Facebook every day now underneath a picture of Leon Kennedy.

reaching the point in Fallout NV that everything I do seems to piss off and cause me to fail missions I picked up from other factions. Just going to follow the Mr. House storyline and fucking kill everyone else in my way. Gotta wrap up this playthrough, I've gotta nuke my OS and reinstall everything and this isn't a legit copy so I can't just hang onto my save files.
