Re: The Bill's Now Playing Video Game Thread (Now with Bames
that's why I never beat final fantasy tactics. I got near the end but lost my save due to corrupted data on my memory card because my brother flicked a light switch that was connected to the wall socket that my playstation was plugged in to. He just happened to do it while my game was saving, which if it had happened before or after the memory card would have been fine. I was so fucking pissed.

Re: The Bill's Now Playing Video Game Thread (Now with Bames
during this fifteen month pseudo vacation in thailand, i've beaten 20+ games.
until this week, the most frustrating was probably ripper, which had the most illogical, unnecessarily difficult puzzles i've come across AND the dreaded step-based motion sequences you can't turn off that add thirty seconds to every action you take.
this week i've gotten heavy into my Project 64 backlog and i'm 92/120 stars into mario 64. between the drunk retard camera and the STILL unpredictable physics, i've beaten the shit out of my couch cushions at least twenty times.
this past year i beat
Crusader: No Remorse
Sanitarium
Take No Prisoners
Broken Sword I: Shadow of the Templars
Torchlight
Dragon Quest IX
Heroes of Might and Magic
Heroes of Might and Magic II
Might and Magic VI
Fallout
Police Quest IV: Open Season
Planescape: Torment
Heretic II
Veil of Darkness
Torin's Passage
Doom II: Hell on Earth
Eric the Unready
The 7th Guest
Al-Qadim: the Genie's Curse
Doom
Dark Forces
Return of the Phantom
Phantasmagoria
Leisure Suit Larry VII: Love For Sail
Duke Nukem 3D
Ripper
Nightmare Creatures
currently playing
mario 64
castlevania: legacy of darkness
manhunt
terminator: future shock

Sad to say I will be busy during Microsoft's conference later today. I am really interested as to how much shittier the Xbox One can get. ![awesome :awesome:](./images/smilies/awesome.gif)
I hope you guys let the jokes run wild in the E3 thread and will try to join for the Sony one.

Re: The Bill's Now Playing Video Game Thread (Now with Bames
Anyone play any of these Metriodvania style games?
Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit
Guacamelee!
Dust: An Elysian Tail
I truly don't need to add another game to my overincredulous list of things I must play, but if a formula and niche genre are doing it for you...

Game froze no less than seven times during my playthrough last night, including twice on the same (very long) mission. Gonna try it again tonight but it's very definitely on probation here. I've got all kinds of options available to me and won't hesitate to pull the trigger motherfuckerriley-o wrote:RDR has frozen right at the end of two missions in a row pre-save. An internet search last night revealed that it was anything but uncommon on the ps3. Didn't investigate other platforms

Re: The Bill's Now Playing Video Game Thread (Now with Bames
I have mixed feelings about this one. It has tons of personality and polish, but as a Metroidvania I feel like it actually falls pretty short. The veneer of SOTN-style exploration/nonlinearity is really thin, and the actual game is extremely linear. Plus, the fact that all the secrets just consist of stat boosts (rather than weapons, items and new abilities a la SOTN) makes backtracking to places you couldn't reach seem a lot less enticing. No leveling up, no rare drops, etc.The Bill wrote:Guacamelee!
It's also a lot more of a platformer than I prefer, which is especially disappointing because the combat is actually quite good. If you go in accepting all that, you'll probably have fun. I would never in a million years choose it over a proper Metroidvania game though.

I think the PS3 version has other issues that the 360 one doesn't have. I played it on the 360 and don't remember crashes.riley-o wrote:An internet search last night revealed that it was anything but uncommon on the ps3. Didn't investigate other platforms

So guys, am I correct in understanding that Last of Us comes out on Friday? I keep thinking this is some kind of typo, I'm so conditioned to buy bames on Tuesday that I start planning where I'm going to pick it up on my lunch break tomorrow. Then I get sad
The hype, it has me in its algorithmic clutches.

Where's this Bioshock Infinite season pass content already. Did I spend my money on a few extra tonics?

The Omni has received 5 times it's asking kickstarter amount already and there's still 40 days to go. Looks like this is gonna be something. Still a little skeptical about how easy it'll be to use but even if it takes some work to get used to it, I'm into it.
Think about it... exercising while shooting people in the face.
