Though he is incontrovertibly an asshole, here's a Richard Rorty interview. Just have to get through the German parts to get to the interview.

I got about five minutes in before Horowitz bullshit made me want to break my computer screen. Maybe I'll watch later when I'm in a more patient mood.fallbacktostone wrote:

Re: Thread for Long Lectures from the Video Internet
When I saw all the interesting youtube stuff people posted I was going to ask if anybody knew a free & easy to use programme to rip the audio track from videos, so I'd be grateful if you could upload mp3s... anyything that was posted before you posted would be cool, but I'd take whatever you've got. Cheers.Necrometer wrote:I might have to use the power of technology to turn these into MP3s since I move around too much - if anyone cares let me know and I will upload them for youriley-o wrote:i like to listen to them while i play video games

Re: Thread for Long Lectures from the Video Internet
MIT's OCW still has a great wealth of information online. I have used it quite a bit for planning my classes and just dumbing down a lot of the really cool examples.
Susskind's lectures are a little lengthy but they are pretty good. I wish Stanford would put up more physics and computer science material. The professor for the introductory computer science course is so animated and fun to listen to, but that's all Karel ++ so it's basically worthless to me.

Re: Thread for Long Lectures from the Video Internet
not sure why I wasn't in this thread sooner
part one of Rick Roderick's lecture on "Philosophy and Post-Modern Culture"
full thing, with transcript, is here: http://rickroderick.org/108-philosophy- ... ture-1990/
one of my favorite lecturers because he's entertaining, he makes great examples, and he makes reading the texts easier, just by virtue of explaining them in clear terms, even if he oversimplifies things in this lecture series. they aren't meant to be comprehensive anyway. some of the latter ones he does aren't so great, but anything in the 100 and 200 series is worth taking a look at.
