Vince Vaughn's charactet too. Mentioned they were trying to have a kid and ivf or something? Maybe Pizzolato is having dick problems.

Motorcycle cop's blowjob and suicide ride faces were hilarious. Overall pretty good and need to wait for the entire season to judge things but MPD is right. The theme song fucking sucks. The directing is definitely a step below S1, too.

What are you talking about? Lawn Mower man had no problem plowing his inbreed sister. THe King in Yellow might make you bat shit crazy, but you'll be able to fuck a porcupine's unshaven New Hampshire niece and still sing that Blues Traveller song backwards.

I liked how Vince Vaughn seemed really uncomfortable in the scenes as a business man, but in the flash backs and in the scene at the bar where he's back in his criminal element, he seemed a lot more comfortable. I think that was by design, but I'm reading a lot of critics saying "He's been miscast". I guess we'll see more in future episodes, but I thought it was a promising start. That final shot of the sunrise coming up over the dark crime scene was great.
They really should have gotten Vincent D'Onofrio to play this version of the Kingpin instead of Vaughn. I thought HBO had more money than Netflix.

The reviews i've read of the new season seem extremely harsh and ridiculous. i thought the first episode was excellent, and if anything fixed some of the bad things about true detective early in the first season. people have to let this season and its characters/actors stand on their own. you don't always get your #1 choice to play a character and maybe that happened with vince vaughn but i thought he did a perfectly fine job in the first episode.

most of the critics i see reviewing thus far are ridiculous and they are writing the show off based on 3 fucking episodes they got to review

Agreeeeeeed

So much of the negative critical shit that I've read has boiled down to basically "it's just so serious"

i get what the problem is but its just not completely different enough from the first pilot to warrant such a fat faggoty groaning reaction. last season was very much the same way. a lot of the nihilism and self seriousness and generic self destruction is heightened a lot more already and spread out over three characters this time and not just rust..

this one was a little less world buildingy and a little more charactery. this one had more thudding dialogue i'm sure he thought sounded badass at the time..

whatever

lets take a huge shit on its chest around episode 4-5 when there's A STORY

Not a whole lot to care about in that one... highway cop is kinda cool I guess. Farrell's character is interesting but I have no idea what they're trying to convince us with Vince Vaughn. Whatever.
