this just got my interest since I realized the Cube/Splice dude Vincenzo Natali directed a handful of episodes (in season 2, I think)... does the feel vary much depending on director, and is it the sort of show where one could hop in during the second season (I'm guessing not...)
The first season is a little too killer of the week cop show but makes up for it with some really creative art direction and the honor of being probably the most fucked up network show ever. Season 2 is where the show really starts to find its identity and Season 3 has been just as good as 2. It's trashy and self-indulgent in a lot of ways but it recognizes that and embraces it. Whereas TD S2 seems to be a whole lot of fancy words just because and to show how deep and tortured the characters are.

Glad to see this show's back on track. "These contracts...there are signatures all over them." Pizza is taking the piss right? Great shot of realism when they added the full moon, otherwise I wouldn't have believed he could read anything in the back of that car. I will say I loved the music during the mansion scene though.

The shot of them fleeing the mansion is probably my favorite shot of this season...mostly for film noir reasons.

I still can't believe the McAdams character's Dark Secret is that the reason she's so TUFF and BROODING is she was abused as a child. By a creepy redneck. In an actual, literal rape van.

That's just... I can't, you guys. I can't.

yea we all know already you'd probably like for her to have been subjected to something far more exotic and penetrating than some vanilla ass sexual abuse..

Well, yeah, I'm really just mad Ray didn't rape her with a model plane before he broke them all.

No, seriously, that was basically the last box on the Dumb Stereotypes list they hadn't ticked yet. It's really kind of amazing.

The scene's with Ray and his fat pussy kid got to me. Ray sitting on the couch, then it hitting him that he will not win this fight and will lose his kid, going on a destructive bender, then pleading with his ex that he would sacrifice never seeing his son again so his son wouldn't know the horrible truth was the best part of this season, and mimic'd the great parts of last season.

Then you have gay biker cop stumbling on the silver bullet of evidence, and saying the lines "there's signatures everywhere" like how Arnold told Sharon Stone in Total Recall "they tried to kil me but I killed dem" delivery.

It reminded me more of Blue Velvet, I liked it, as well as the rest of this episode

Probably the most entertaining episode.

Finding it hard to believe the Cartel guys wouldn't just take over Frank's club and kill him and his crew.
