Ciderboys Royal Blueberry - 1/10
Having tried and liking their peach cider earlier, I thought I'd give the blueberry a whirl. Mistake. It doesn't even taste like blueberry; instead an undiscernible vegetable flavor or some such, with maybe just a hint of blueberry on the back end. Did not care for it at all... and so I have 5 more bottles to push onto the unsuspecting. Anybody want one?
Victory Storm King Imperial Stout - 9/10
Rich, bold, yummy... just right for washing failed blueberry taste out of one's mouth.

Firestone Walker Rye Double DBA- 9/10
Pretty great to see Double DBA back in any form since they stopped making it to release Helldorado(less than impressive). Combines the sweetness and barrel character of the regular version with a touch of spice that helps level out that malt backbone. Not that boozy either at this point.

After two weeks in Thailand on
Singha 7
Tiger 7.5
Chang 6
You can take one off of all of those scores when not drinking in tropical sun/poolside.
Coming home to some beer with hops in it was a taste sensation.
4 Pines Pale Ale - 8
James Squire Hop Thief - 8

De Garde Broken Truck #2 - 10/10
Fuck this was incredible. Subtle layers of flavor. Way better than any of the Imperial Bu's that people seem to want to hold for ransom.
Great Notion Ripe - 8.5/10
Juicy would be a good term for the IPA. A very balanced approach of hop based fruitiness and bitterness without trying to use a heavy malt backbone to do so.

Smuttynose Old Brown Dog Ale - 7/10
Plus a couple of different IPAs from the same brewer - 7/10
Drinkin' beer around the campfire last night, and I sampled some from a Smuttynose variety pack. Old Brown Dog is the only name I remember of the three, but they all were nice hoppy beers that got the job done.

Flying Dog . Double Dog . Double IPA - 8/10
Pretty strong flavored, but pretty darn good just the same. The 11.5 ABV means you won't be sucking down too many of these in a row, unless you're looking to get hammered. Go nuts...

I remember that Double Dog being a little too much, but would like to go back to it and give it another shot. I was mostly just super impressed the little shit-ass bodega down the street carries it.

Tilquin Geuze draft version - 9/10
Not often here that this come up on draft. It was everything the bottle is but amplified. Funky, dank, slight tart/citrus notes.

Evil Genius . Turtle Power . Grapefruit Pale Ale - 5/10
Imagine a seriously watered-down grapefruit juice with a little hoppy bitterness thrown in. That's Turtle Power. It's alright, I suppose, but not enough to make me want to reach for another.
Flying Dog . Fever Dream . Mango Habanero IPA - 9/10
Now this shit is good. With habanero in the mix I figured it would pack a spicy punch, but alas, no. The heat is rather subdued, which makes sense, I guess. How refreshing would a cold beer be if it was melting your face off at the same time? Here the fruity mango is up front, but not overpowering, and melds well with the hops. Yum.

The Livery fuckin rips. They had 2 of their beers on cask when I was there. I regret not being able to try everything they had. Truly the best part of benton harbor getting gentrified.Teebore wrote:And only 45 mins(or less!) for me. Glad to see they are back to doing good beers again. Flying Dog . Carolina Reaper Peach IPA - 9/10
I saw this on the shelf earlier today and snagged a 6. With carolina reaper pepper in the mix I figured it would be a volcanic beer at least. Not quite. The heat level builds nicely with each swig, levelling off on the lower end of jalapeno-type heat - a far cry from reaper levels, but several steps above other chili beers I've tried. The peachy sweetness and the hoppy bitterness make this brew a win. Get it quick before it's gone!

Belgian Dubbel - 8.25
Legless Rabbit ipa - 8
Brown - 8.5
not a bad beer in the house, but their others were less notable

Killed a sixer of Brooklyn's Octoberfest over the weekend. Not bad, a bit on the malty side but other than that it was pretty well balanced. Still prefer the German stuff. 7/10.
