Re: Westworld
The second half was better than the first. I'll keep watching as long as it doesn't succumb to typical HBO drama, where too much time is spent on chump change characters.elephants gerald wrote:I actually liked this. But yeah black hole sun was way too much

Thought it was pretty good. Slow burn. I think Ed Harris' character is what's eventually going to cause everything to change.

Re: Westworld
Ah, one of the show runners was inspired by Bioshock Infinite. This completely explains Black Hole Sun, & we're bound to get more modern tunes done Wild West then.

I thought the vibe improved over the course of the show. In for another couple of episodes.

in a way this is what I'm thinking. but not exactlyThePhillyExperiment wrote:Thought it was pretty good. Slow burn. I think Ed Harris' character is what's eventually going to cause everything to change.
I think anthony hopkins' character has intentionally given the androids consciousness to emancipate them. he's making these beautiful sophisticated creatures and people are just using them for murder and sex and he can't deal with it. that's my guess. so ed harris is like the epitome of that, right? but what's the deeper game he's looking for?

Re: Westworld
I like it so far. Mostly good acting, which is incredibly important for a show like this where the actors are in many cases playing multiple roles. I don't love the Wild West setting all that much, and there's a bit of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer feel to the "But what's REALLY happening, gentle viewer ??!!?" thing they keep doing, which makes me kinda wish I'd waited until there were a few seasons of it before starting, but it's done well enough that even though I sometimes roll my eyes at how mysterious it all is, I think I'm hooked.

Robots beeominbg sentient, or at least attaining agency is such a choke point to me in sci Fi. Like I can deal with any magic nonsense. And enjoy the story except when it's this. Still q great show, love what the tee doing. And the robots brains could even be organic and not a logic- based fatal math calcultor for all I know

Ed Harris is going to turn out to be Logan or William...there are 2 timelines.
