Maybe. Shelly was breaking my balls about German beers on Facebook yesterday, and seems to drink a fuckton more beer than me, so, who knows.

Founder's . Pale Joe . Coffee APA - 8/10
Good coffee aroma & flavor (if not for the bubbles you might think it's a cold coffee) with a hint of sweetness and bitterness. Easy drinker... you could put away a 6 without even thinking. Good stuff.

Re: rate the last beer(s) you had 1-10
Stone . Xocoveza . Mocha stout - 5/10? 10/10? /10??
This is a strange one, made with cocoa, coffee, peppers, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. I could taste each and every one of those ingredients along with the rich stoutiness, but not at the same time, and not with every swig. Each sip held a different flavor combo... some were excellent, some were just so-so... hence the difficulty rating this damn brew. Proceed at your own risk...

Treehouse Juice Machine - 8/10
Hoppy fruit juice for the most part in the best way that it can be said.

It was fine. 6/10 I guess. The Bill wrote:I bought a huge case of this stuff yesterday* never having had it before. I hope I choose wisely:

Bought a Sam Adams variety pack with a bunch of beers I've never had before. I suspect I'll sort of dislike their initial taste, but still drink a few then won't even notice the taste, as I usually do with these Sam packs.
The only beer that I know of that I would refuse to drink. The worst of the worst.Jesus H Dump wrote:Coors Light. Total garbage.

Outside of the regular old Sam Adams and the Oktoberfest I can't even recall the other flavors with the exception of this:
which was fucking awful. 2/10

I still have one of the 6 packs I bought back in 2012. Haven't had one in over a year. Should probably bust one out soon. Would love to sit across a table from you while sipping one.Old Buddy wrote:x4 Westy 12s arrived in the mail.

It's been a while my friend! Chicago has opened about 1,000 godly breweries lately: Whiner, Marz, Middle Brow, Dovetail, Hopewell - all killing it. Try anything Marz you can find - their DIPA - Double Jungle Boogie is insane.Introvert wrote:I still have one of the 6 packs I bought back in 2012. Haven't had one in over a year. Just out of Chicago is Transient and Burn'em - both are absolutely stellar.

Re: rate the last beer(s) you had 1-10
Weyerbacher . Heresy . Imperial stout - 8.5/10
Not bad at all... notes of whiskey, coffee and chocolate, with a sweet finish... not something to chug, but to savor.
Founder's . Dirty Bastard . Scotch ale - 8/10
Good creamy ale with a complex flavor... some sweet, some bitter, some you name it. It's a buy.
New Belgium . Fat Tire - 1/10
(Doesn't deserve a picture) Piss-poor excuse for a beer. Might be good for the chili pot, but that's about it. Pass...

Fremont BA Coffee Darkstar - 9.5/10
Fremonts barrel program is on fire now. Probably top 2 in best coffee stouts I've ever had. Their ability to make 14.5% abv seem balanced is confusing.

Troeg's . Java Head Stout - 7/10
A decent stout... no real complaints, though it didn't wow me. Maybe I was jaded since I had it soon after:
North Coast Brewing . Old Rasputin . Russian imperial stout - 10/10
Now this is the shit... rich, flavorful, stouty stout.

Founder's . Breakfast Stout - 12/10
Posted about this last year, but am now revising. This is it... the pinnacle... the perfect beer. Coffee dominates, but there's so much more... So damn good. I just wish it was as cheap as piss beer so I can drink it every day of the year. For now it will have to be a seasonal treat...

Hit up De Garde on a whim this weekend. Still probably one of my favorite breweries. Almost everything they make is incredible and above anything else being made in this country for wile ales. Pics spoilered for size. Unfortunately no time to stop in PDX this trip. Sometime soon Ryan!
