sorry man, I didn't mean to be an asshole. it's just that I'm easily influenced and as I said before I shouldn't really get such an expensive board game, let alone buy such expensive expansions - even if they look fucking sweet!!

In this picture, we added the Blue Sun expansion which I think should just be standard because its makes the game even better. You are the Captain of a ship and you do jobs for various space assholes, legal or illegal, around the galaxy. You risk getting boarded by the Alliance or getting intercepted by Reavers where they will flay your whole crew. There are overarching GOAL cards (I forget the exact terminology) where the first person to meet all three goals wins. The first time I played, I actually one but the goals seemed pretty quick to achieve. We were 6 hours into this particular game featured in the picture and we called it quits because my buddy's wife wanted to go to sleep and I had to get my sonne home because he had swim practice in the morning. You name a theme or element from the show and it is in the game.

Upper Deck is about to release a Big Trouble in Little China deck building game under the Legendary series. I played the Marvel Legendary and it ruled.

Campaign System
Embark alone or with up to 4 friends (6 with game variant) on a 25-lantern-year campaign, with each year consisting of a cycle of hunt, showdown, and settlement phases. The settlement phase is an intricate civilization building game in which you spend very limited resources to build buildings, research new technologies, train your warriors, and set up your strategy for survival. During the hunt, you'll encounter a series of stories in a "choose your own adventure" style journey through various events and encounters. Finally, when you meet the monster you're pursuing, you'll engage it in an a massive arena-style battle where only one party is going to survive. If your party lives, you'll be able to bring the spoils back home to use in expanding your settlement.

Monster AI System
Each of the 7 monsters included are controlled by their own pair of decks that scale to 3 levels of difficulty (except for the final encounter, which has only 1 level and it's HARD!). Every encounter, even with the same monster, is highly variable and no two showdowns will resolve the same way. Players will have to plan their gear and keep their minds sharp to prevail.

Gear System
In Kingdom Death: Monster, survivors will craft gear from resources earned from defeating monsters or found on their hunt. Each survivor has a 3x3 gear grid. Selection and arrangement of your gear cards is critical, as many provided bonuses and activate special rules when aligned correctly.

Story Event System
40+ Story Events plus over 100 hunt encounters will shape and guide your campaign. Story Events detail important evolutions in your civilization, introduce new monsters, and provide rich detail for your campaign. Some will trigger automatically as you progress through the campaign, but most will be entirely based on choices players make.

Story Events cover everything from setting up and fighting a monster to key events that happen within the overall story. Some are triggered directly from the timeline and others from choices you make in game.

the miniatures look absolutely incredible though :drooly:

the idea of playing that sort of game (and/or D&D or its ilk) is so tantalizing to me but I've come to accept that it's just not going to happen

I can't remember if I posted about my brief stint with Traveller... the DM was too mentally ill to be running anything, and from what I understand that's not the best game for first-timers (all five of us were)

but yeah, I'd readily shell out hundreds of dollars for that if I somehow had time & skill to paint everything, and the proper friends

Just got this. It's a role playing game where you drive in a car and have adventures like you would in real life. Currently waiting for an expansion.
