Ed Harris pig in shit smile after he gets shot the first time. :awesome:
So even if they exported Ford's code, it's still fucked up code that will turn the robots into killing machines.
Was that fly Ford's spy fly? Was that Ford robot Ford?

Season fell a little flat but I've been watching Spartacus and reading Old Man Logan so I've gotten my fill of blood and tits and cock with those two.

I just finished the finale and I have so many strong feelings about the show despite being emotionally disengaged essentially the entire time

this might be the most nihilistic piece of entertainment I've ever seen; the humans have little humanity and the androids have even less. without the violence & nudity (which are both presented with zero passion in most cases) the show would be basically unwatchable. otherwise, we're left with a narrative that is deliberately obscured - apparently to hide its lack of depth, not to enrich or build complexity.

the "maze" is frustratingly hollow - sure, we can imagine that the MiB is following clues or whatever, but in hindsight there's clearly no substance to it, so what exactly was he doing? I get that it's a primarily metaphor, but is this guy really so dumb that he'll waste all his time searching for a big nothing? edit: I saw someone explain that what MiB was following was actually parts of the game where the hosts could fight back, so the "maze" for him was actually mapped out by all the hosts who had completed their own "maze". sort of handwavey but at least it's something.

apparently I have very clear ideas about how the mechanics of this park would work, because the way they show the androids being built, mangled, and repaired made me bonkers. this is on me more than the show, of course... but you can't 3D print a fully functional biomechanical humanoid with skin that's applied by dunking it in a bath for cheaper than just growing up a bunch of brain-dead clones. I loved the old-school robot designs and really wish they'd used those exclusively. repairs would make way more sense - no fucking way you're using two brain-dead techs to re-sculpt a 3D-printed android. I'm sure S2 is going to hit us with some shocking revelation about a host getting knocked up though :wank: OH, and the MRSA? what in the fuck?

oh - and although it was endlessly entertaining to watch, the Felix & Maeve storyline was preposterous.

the dolores flashbacks & mental glitching was really tiresome. the wyatt shit was frustrating.

with all that off my chest, the good stuff: I really liked the William storyline, probably because he was the only character with any clear motivations and arc. anthony hopkins is untouchable and elevated a silly character to something greater. I now have an ultra crush on that Clementine chick, and was so relieved every time she was resurrected (first as a naked kill-bot, and then as a clothed kill-bot in the finale). I like that there's a lot of open-ended stuff to be explored in another season: what the "greater purpose" is, what's going on in the real world, whether that Ellen Page detective chick lived or not...

edit: I found this random internet comment about the frustrating inconsistency of the maze and I think it snobbily captures what I'm feeling... I forgave LOST for almost every dumb trick it tried to pull, not quite sure what's different here...
SPOILERSPOILER_SHOW
Well, they're doing what we were all doing as the show was going along - for the entire 9 weeks leading up to the finale - Nolan and Joy weren't telling us the story. We were telling ourselves what the story was - they let us.

The Westworld we saw on screen was simply a Rorschach - something upon which we could project what we thought we were watching and - in so doing - finding ourselves plenty to chat about the next day in the office.

Which is all they were ever after.

Nolaen and Joy wrote the ending - we wrote the rest, and they wrote what they did in such a way as we could string ourselves along thinking we're right.

Post Season 1 finale is absolutely no different - people are writing their own version of what they believe they saw and (of course) they're seeing it as cleaver, because (strangely enough) what they are seeing appears eerily similar to what they (the people proffering their theories) think...

I got bit by it, you got bit it - we all got bit it. Some of us just got wise. Others are a little slower on the uptake is all.

It's a large thing to take on board that you've been had. Con merchants and writers rely on that universally the same - not necessarily to different effect.

In the case of Nolan and Joy - they let us do a number on ourselves and that's what we - the viewing audience - did. We talked ourselves into believing what we were watching was smart.

It wasn't. In the end, it was trite.

People wise up when they do. All that can be said, really.

Hope you find something out there better.

You deserve it.

It was alright, I guess. Rather tedious at times, and with more nit-picking opportunities than a third-world child's scalp.

And I'm guessing season 2 will be taking a page from the Terminator franchise? Dolores = Skynet??

First two episodes were Lost-tier dumb, most recent one may have redeemed the entire series.

I'm sorry that I just wrote 'tier'.

yeah this has been hyper schlock dressed in pseudo intellectual sci fi posturing buttttttt that last episode did take it in some very cools places

probably because dolores was absent the entire episode

thanks dudes

sounds kinda similar to the first season, which kept me strung along with nothing too great ever actually happening.

I watched the intro to episode 3 and liked the CGI tiger

I'm pro-tier and pro-LOST, assuming we're judging it as a whole. I (idiotically?) feel like that show ultimately made up for its rough/stupid patches. I really can't see that happening with westworld for some reason, but then again I'd be saying the same exact thing in the middle of LOST season 2

prestige television always trying to be infinite seasons is so irritating

The Bernard/Ford/Delos/William storyline is great. They're doing way better with that than I imagined, after season 1. I don't care much for Dolores, but if she's there to move the story forward, fine... however the melodrama SUCKS.
Clementine becoming a badass emotionless cyborg executioner, but then tears up when she sees a host who took her place... : wank :
That Shogun World shit really slowed everything down for a bit there. Doubt there was a good reason for it.

Finished this last night.

Strategy was the same as the first season: cloaking a simple, and not particularly good story in so many layers of mystery that it seems complex and fantastical unntil you think about it for a bit and go, “wait.. that’s kinda stupid.”

Also Bernard’s acting is terrible and his stuttering Littlefinger stage whisper was just intolerable by the end.

I loved The Noble Savage episode though

I finally watched the first 4 episodes of S2 and... THIS SHOW FUCKING SUCKS. riley's pretty much spot on with his "nice window dressing of mystery / nonsense plot". beyond that, it seems like they're trying to coast on production value and sex/violence titillation - it's not working! most episodes are essentially a series of skits with the same format: a few characters arrive at a location for a reason we don't care about, and they either find a bunch of dead people OR all the people they find are dead by the end of their time there. when they found yet another totally meaningless red herring maze under some corpse's scalp... I think that galvanized my hatred for this seductive yet completely garbage series.

episode 4 was slightly cool/interesting with the delos guy going through a bunch of failed play-tests, but they didn't even bother justifying why he was glitching? seeing them burn HIS WHOLE APARTMENT every time a copy glitched out was triggering me so bad. show constantly gets under my skin with its idiotic loosey goosey manufacturing logic. like, why do they have brains and blood but also they're 3D printed out of elmer's glue? I hate it so much.

riley, is the "noble savage" episode this one, S2E8?
"The telling of Akecheta and the Ghost Nation's journey to consciousness"
might watch it if it's a worthy standalone. which reminds me - none of these episodes really work on their own. just a bunch of slogs happening in parallel...

Yeah that’s probably it Ross

I’m taking a big fat fucking ZERO responsibility if it sucks, but it probably stands alone at least enough if you’re into season 2

Show is reminding me of True Blood. Started out a mess but was interesting enough but then breaks its neck falling down the stairs while sucking it’s own dick. Doesn’t die though, just lays there at the bottom festering and gargling to death as a swarm of female mice applauds the body for being edgy and sexy, from their mouse hole.
