Help me find a used car
My Subaru is 21 years old and it's finally not very reliable at almost 300,000 miles. I'm interested in a used Chevy volt, but I guess I'm open minded. I haven't even thought about buying a car in over a decade so can anyone make a recommendation for sites to find a used car or advice on what sites you had success with. All the private sale Volts around here seem to be priced the same as the GM certified ones. Is that certificate bullshit?

It's the craziest thing, and I apologize for saying so, but I'll be damned if I don't remember there being a SECOND meatgrease post in this thread !

Re: Help me find a used car
Have heard a used Leaf is an amazingly good value, especially post-2013 when the battery got revammped.
Depending on your state, a new one could be an even better value.

I have $5000 saved and I want to spend no more than $20000 total but would prefer less.

Fly to CA (visit me), buy a non-rusted 100K mile car, drive it back?
They advertise leases for those Fiat 500 electrics at $69 a month around here sometimes. I was reading leasehackr.com for a while but then decided to fix my shitty old car instead.
Double Anal harasses craiglist people via email until they give up their van for a reasonable price.
Is it too hard to find an older prius? I think they currently have the most-reliable-car-ever title.

Ok, what do you mostly use your car for - by that I mean - are you in a band and have to lug around gear? Have a family? Do you go outdoors stuff much or are you looking for a solid reliable town car?

With that kind of money I would just lease with the option to buy and keep saving.
Honda all the way btw, used or new.

Re: Help me find a used car
Honestly at that price range if you're looking for a car primarily for your lady you should just cross shop a Honda CR-V, Toyota Rav-4 or Mazda CX-3. All of those can be had basically new for that kind of money. If you want a fancypants PHEV hybrid or electric car, they're kind of exclusive and you're not gonna get one for much less than 30K. If you're in that range, you just buy new because the cost difference isn't gonna be worth it. You just buy a Leaf, Bolt or Volt new at that point, maybe a Prius Prime or whatever. Out of those I'd go with the Prius or Bolt.

Re: Help me find a used car
Chevy Bolt is American, bud. Honda CRV is almost entirely American sourced and designed as well. It's built in either Ohio or Indiana, along with damn near everything else they sell here. The designs are done in CA.Erik13 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2017 9:11 amHow about he buys American?Rev. Japanese auto makers are more American than American auto makers in a lot of cases these days.
