 I'm less than 10 hours into DA:I, but I bailed on Skyrim after 40 hours or so because I just wasn't feeling it. this officially got its hook in me last night and I feel like I could play 40 hours in one goddamn weekend. but since we have a new thread for that.....

Bill, I saw your barrage of "just played X for the first time" last night on the PS4. how's Far Cry 4?!

I tried Dragon Age Borigins not too long ago. It was right after I finished The Witcher 2, so that did not help it's cause. I could not handle the shitty k/m controls in DA:O, and the visuals in that game do not hold up too well.

Yeah, I know, I hate everything......but it would be nice to like something for once. I might consider DA:I if it works well with a controller. But The Witcher 3 comes out in a few months, and I don't know if I will have time for both.

I want an open world RPG with exploration, customization, and decent combat. I don't care about story in these kind of games, or any game. Skyrim still holds the crown for these traits, even if it's not perfect.

Where the fuck is Fallout 4?

Maybe I'll just stick to playing Path Of Exile and Hearthstone forever.

All I can say is it looks good. I threw in all three games so the PS4 can load them, patch them, and then install any DLC that came with them. I only really played GTAV, and I am shocked how much a perspective switch makes me enjoy a game that much more. I'm talking tons here. I really hope adding a FPS mode into 3rd person shooting games becomes a thing outside of shitty mods I've tried in the past.

Hoping it's taking long because they created a new engine, but realistically I think they've been busy try to fix the potential DOOM and Dishonoered mess they had going for a while.

The police siren gimmick on the dual shock is actually very cool and useful.

As I've said I've never liked any of the GTA games before this one. The switch to FP just completely changes things for me. Unfortunately, (and yes, I understand the title is in reference to cars) GTA still has too much driving. I actually just run to missions sometimes. That said, the game has me fully invested and all this driving is just wetting my appetite for the next proper shooting scenario.

I guess folks really want to look at asses, and being that most third person shooters have male protagonists...

I just think TPS and FPS games tend to be totally different in terms of both their controls and more importantly the level design - you can see more in 3rd person, look around corners and stuff. That's not "better", but it's different, and trying to get a game to do both probably isn't going to work all that well. Plus "includes optional first person perspective" sounds a whole fucking lot like another box to tick for every game, like the way everything has stealth these days. Why does every game have to do everything?

Well, GTA wasn't designed to be first personand it works great. I think your too worried about nothing.

Games need to go back to doing one thing and doing that thing really well instead of doing 10 and not getting any of them right.

STOP MAKING GENERALIZATIONS GUYS!!!11

first person in something like TLOU would be terrible and almost unplayable, whereas I think something like Evil Within would have been better with it.

I never said every third person game. Bloodborne has a gun in it as well, and I'm sure it would be a disaster in First Person. Saints Row 3 would be great, but not 4 is another example. I'm just saying I hope it becomes a viable option for some games that have been Third only in the past.
