really kind of ... low-brow, but emotionally manipulative. I read the whole series!
Yeah that's the one. I'm reading 1Q84 now and I'm feeling normal again.

I guess I just finished the 4 books of the new sun and read youalls posts on it. I didn't really figure out anything cool while I was reading it. Actually, is Urth of the New Sun part of it? I still need to read that.

I've been reading Against The Day for about a month and am about halfway done. I've read several books at the same time including Gore Vidals Empire, some of his shorter political works, Mao II, The Familiar part 5 and am currently reading Live From Golgotha while reading ATD. I loved how well Empire synched up with against the day being in the same time period and how the sleazy time traveling aspects of Live From Golgotha mesh with ATD as well.

Any of you read The Pale King? It has some ridiculously good scenes. I never even read Infinite Jest

I read that several months ago. Don't remember if I rated it. "brief interviews with hideous men" is DFW at his most nihilistic IMO although I haven't read all his stuff.

Probably not the right thread, but I read it on my tablet like I do books (or did, back when I read books)

The Left Right Game - 7.5/10

Although it is definitely derivative and stuffs a lot of classic horror tropes in, it stays readable and fun.

How is this? Holding your interest I assume if you made it to the fifth book. I loved house of leaves and hated only revolutions

Finally finished Against The Day.

I wish Deuce would have been chopped up and fed to Pugnax but you don’t always get what you want.

I had to make a new user name due to log in/comp issues. I think my other post got eaten.

Yeah I am enjoying it. I have read the other 4. Enjoying all the “sigiconic” graphics he uses. It seems kind of gimmicky but fuck it, at least it is something different and the books look great and are fun just to look at as well as read.

Part five is “the end of the first season” so it wraps up some things while leaving a lot of shit up in the air. He said he was going to have this be an absurd 27 parts unless people lose interest then he may shorten it down.

House Of Leaves broke my heart and also was one of the only books to actually get under my skin that I’ve read in the last several decades.
