Hypernormalisation - 7/10

I loved how they talked about the Alexa computer and how people knew what it was doing and still wanted to use it, and then later talked about how ineffective social media activism was in the 2016 election because you only reached people who already agreed with you due to the algorithms. It was never expressly voiced that social media for most intents and purposes is us Alexaing ourselves, but damn.

 whoa, that sounds primed to make me feel terrible about the shit I put up with these days because why not

in the latest of a lifetime of high-school grade EUREKA moments, it hit me... like REALLY hit me that the most disturbing thing about corporate social media (not like the RBB underground :ax: ) is that it has commodified/commercialized human interaction more than anything ever has. I know that doesn't sound all that special, but... being connected with people is now a type of product, but invisibly so. that's fucking bonkers. has anything been like that, historically? I guess castes are like buying your way into improved social stuff. maybe "class" is being replaced by whatever you call this new thing that's rotting everyone's brains.

It really is just a laughably bad made-for-TV movie with boobs and swearing, of course knowing this because I've seen it. Multiple times

I fucking loved that movie the first time I saw it (whenever it hit blockbuster I guess) and I'm scared to ever revisit it.

I remember hearing anecdotes that The Ripper was sullen and resentful when people would bring up copies of the movie for him to sign... I wonder if it's forgotten enough that he now lives in peace?

I also legitimately thought this song ruled and put it on mix tapes to listen to on the school bus

Being a part of the beavis and butthead generation is weird, so much of what I loved was subversion and parody that I took and enjoyed in earnest

I promised myself if I ever met Brendan Frasier the first thing I would ask him would be if he knew who the fuck initially suggested a song from a HC band with a photo of the KKK on their front cover to be in a blockbuster movie

The Redemption of General Butt Naked - 8 or 9 I guess

Vice style "documentaries" usually leave me with an aftertaste of something being winked at the wrong way; here's a crazy brutal situation but we are descending on it with a new twist, our tattoos, and a bucket full of world changing smarm whether obvious or implied

BUT this is actually a good one. The visions you get into things you would not have otherwise seen put it above most. The title guy gets a ton of candid screen time. actually creates dilemmas, and this documentary is the only reason I know about him. Parts of this are quite emotionally affecting
