like its "fun" and inventive? but a real parody while also being a novelty? annoying like tom waits but doesnt ask that much from you? they're not really weird but holy shit were they huge. its impossible not to admire but i never want to listen to this band or think about this band nor do i want to talk about them with people my age. not terrible but they make me SHUDDER if i think about them

has to be the most 90s thing i can think of

this is a band I only knew about initially because my mom (bless her heart) was on vacation and wanted to bring something back for me. so she asked the record store guy what a 13yo metalhead might like and I ended up with sailing the seas of cheese as like the 9th album I ever owned.

recently I was revisiting them a bit and I've gotta go "bad"

if we're using one-hit-wonder criteria (did they contribute anything worthwhile) then it would be non-bad since they were not totally useless. (I think I liked their NIB cover - has this shit been deleted from the internet or did I just dream it? edit - here it is)

totally agreed that it's a worse band to ponder than to hear

well, agreed if you agree

i guess there's something especially grating about a three piece that always sounds just completely over-seasoned

like two songs tops and im out, my palette is now all primus'd

I don't mind when someone else puts them on but I'm not really gonna put that shit on recreationally on my own. It's interesting music but lose Jimmy Points for being wacky - file under 'one of those strange nerd bands'.

They're good at what they did/do, but influenced so, sooooooooo many shitty bands.

Les seems like a fun Verno type dude.

File under Rush and Tool.

I've always wondered what would have happened if Metallica hired Les instead of Newsted...

The comedy of hearing Metallica songs covered by bands with competent drummers never gets old.

I don’t know, they always seemed like that band girls that lived in dorms thought were zany & crazy. And they were zany for liking them, yet Mr Bungle was way too insane or avant-garde.

Hah, the first time I saw a Primus Sucks sticker was in my college age babysitter's car in the early 90s come to think of it.

If I hear one Primus song, I can enjoy it well enough. Not like “fuck yeah this is great” or anything, but it’s fine

If I have to listen to more than that one song in a day, I cease to enjoy them and become resentful of their existence.
