Favorite albums by a bands materially younger than you
This does not get easier as I have gotten older.
Am I missing something, or do the kids just really suck? Get off my lawn?
Only thing I can come up with is Rose Mountain by Screaming Females; only got 7 years on the singer.
Honorable mention is Cry Is For The Flies by Le Butcherettes
Full decade.

Fact #7
From an empirical viewpoint, the problem with Free Will (and causality) is reconciling determinism and freedom to make sense of morality.

Re: Favorite albums by a bands materially younger than you
I think this is a good premise, even though I don't get the "materially"
SF bay area is super sad - there's no apparent music scene of/by youngsters? like I appreciate that slough feg are here but THEY make me feel like a tyke. maybe the kids are too underground for me to even realize they exist. 924 gilman is still a thing but (1) it's got such a weird micronation feel that it's become the anti-DIY, and (2) I can't even tell if the band names I don't recognize are kiddos. SIEGE is old - are all these bands old? http://www.924gilman.org
regardless, mega nostalgia for the humble sxe punk/metal house(s) I grew up with

But yeah, not that they were younger when they made music, but that they were born after you by a number of years

Re: Favorite albums by a bands materially younger than you
ok fuck you kinda serious answer
i think wei zhongle is mad whippersnappery, maybe not revelatory but still a good familiar auto-weird approach to a mutant genre thing (albeit chicago-y too). pop/magma/scg/comus but w clarinets and shit. probably music school nerd jerk offs, i dont know. i liked nu trance a lot based off my friend sending it to me and i liked that it didnt make me instant sad and tired. wish it sounded a little more like something i want to play proper LOUD but it works
edit: one of the write ups just reminded me that this heat might be a good point of reference as well and i dont disagree with that either

I don't really pay attention to how old people are, but I just checked Vektor, and of the three guys whose ages I could find, one is six years younger than me, the others 10 and 11. So I guess I'll go with them because I really like Vektor.

Re: Favorite albums by a bands materially younger than you
all joking aside terminal redux is almost certainly my favorite album from the last 5 years - I'd already known that it was semi-autobiographical, and now I'm trying to re-evaluate it in the wake of this guy being a total prick (maybe a domestic abuser, who knows). BUT I think the album relates to his personal life only via the dynamics with his bandmates - his stuff with his wife (and the alcoholism) is probably too dark for him to grapple with in any semi-public/direct way.

I don't read Metal gossip sites anymore. There was some cryptic status update on Facebook, I think it was from him, that I couldn't make sense of, so I guess that's what that was about? I dunno. Let's talk when Wifebeater Thrash Metal becomes a movement.

Re: Favorite albums by a bands materially younger than you
he reportedly raped his wife and consistently terrorized her (throwing her around & wrecking their house), he responded by basically saying that she was just as much to blame and insinuated that she broke up the band (!), now he's deleted the band's FB & publicly quit twitter.
I think suicidal tendencies have sported a wifebeater or two? hoping wifebeating thrash does not trend

hahaha - first band linked there (Iconoclast) was making musing in the early '80s
I had almost given up all hope for young punx existing, until I saw another band that had played at gilman...
COLOR KILLER!
it's like those brown girls who cover iron maiden but with none of the charm

Anthony Fantano was on Sam Seder’s live show today and he mentioned Tomb Mold.
Then Sam got made fun of because he’d never heard of Ace Of Base and Savage Garden.
This is some weird intersectional turned kafkaesque maze of internet tubes.

i think the kids are still doing stuff, i just don't hear about it as often. find this on your streaming service; it's about LA, but the same thing must be happening in east bay?

the punk here is all poppy punk and the hardcore is like nu-metal infused converge and the diy stuff is scummy banjo bullshit and I don't like any of it.
