No but I have an air popper for popcorn. I use those gel things for heat packs and I heat those in boiling water.

I hate people think they are above liking stuff.Eight Bit Alien wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 8:46 pmauthentic passion is always better than posturing, ironic detachment. Being 'cool' is just pretending that you don't react to things very much... boring after a certain age.
Must be hard work trying not to enjoy stuff.
Fuckin losers.

Do induction cooktops kill hot spots on a pan/pot? I learned how to cook on gas ranges so that is a nonstarter for me if true

they don't really have hot spots, but if your cookware is much bigger than the burner and the cookware doesn't radiate well it doesn't heat much outside the burner. That is really only an issue with one of my very large saucepans.

just to weigh in... I have a tiny 25 buck air fryer from big lots. So can't speak to bigger 'spensive ones.
but damn, I use it every day. Its got the speed and convenience of a microwave, but cooks crisps and so damn versatile. I think only thing I microwave is leftover coffee.
The naming of the things are wrong, its a mini convection oven. Yes you can make a form of potato like a french fry from real potato, but if that's your only goal you'll be disappointed. Probably the least sucessful use, IMO
Some on my frequent uses:
toss in some peppers--- instant roasted peppers with char, in minutes. I'll even do that in a salad, by the time i cut the other stuff peppers are roasted.
cleaning out old stuff in the freezer--- old slice of leftover pizza..boom eaten back to life
breaded shrimp -- stuff that looks fried already cooks up in no time from freezer to your mouth
You can even toss in a frozen burger cooks up so quick
damn near any leftover works
tip--- don't put anything light in there... like adding a slice of cheese on a burger, while the idea sounds flying, it literally will be flying in the mini convection tornado and make a mess.
if you do make a type of french fry--- boil your potato first to get the insides tender, then air fry to add seasoning and a little crisping. cut smaller thinner to speed exterior.
speaking of potato, whatever happened to pathos productions ?

They're awesome. I don't even use a toaster anymore, just toss a bagel or bread in there for 4 minutes on 390 and it's good to go.
