I always thought the worst At the Gates album was all of them.
The last two Hot Snakes records are pretty weak compared to Auto Midnight.

man, I will. It's a strikingly unheavy pop/rock album written by guys who were pretty good at hooks but really bad at things that didn't veer off into some kind of rhythmic/harmonic weirdness. Probably the best-sounding of all their albums too.

it's not even a fantastically weird failure with a lot of misplaced experimentation and such. it's just utterly boring and forgettable.
