Cohle doing the bump before he stole the coke was :awesome:

Wanted to make sure it was still fresh!

That long, uncut track was Children of Men levels of awesome. The pure chaos that was building throughout that entire scene, and then the shot from the helicopter. It made it seem more disturbing that the killings that we did see were sudden and then cut away, or we didn't see them just blood splatter.

What else is on HBO you ask? Well, let's see: Girls, a show about whiny NY trust fund 20 something girls, and Looking, about gay dudes trying to find relationships in NY.

That guy with the beard has some crazy eyes.

"You were probably the reason for your wife's death", "you sure pick your sympathies", and "We couldn't find any relatives. And you know how hard that is in Louisiana?" were all :awesome: :awesome: :awesome:

...

"They're worshiping these ancient stones..."

Hart's frustration every time Cohle told him it was none of his business at the bar was great. Man, I want to re-watch all these episodes again already.

I wonder what they're trying to summon with these sacrifices? 4th dimensional beings? And are Yellow Kings just priests that have gone insane with that real good killing?

Really like how they kept naming the Yellow King in this one.
SPOILERSPOILER_SHOW
I keep wondering if it's Rust being off the grid because he was going "undercover" to check out Carcosa or whatever. Of course he would be a mole for nobody in particular, besides his need to confirm his outlook on humanity and how much the Tuttles have to do with it. Those detectives interviewing him think he's been behind it all along because they don't have all the facts, and they think Rust is fucking nuts too... I think this episode finally puts away the "he was behind it all along" shit, especially with that ending.

That's what I'm thinking, but not because Rust needs to validate his nihilism, but that he gets so obsessed with his job and he needs to create something good compared to the bad that he's experienced throughout his life.

Fuck Guillermo and his goofy Hellboys, Pizzolato should direct any Lovecraft movies.

If it turns supernatural or not, I'm really happy they went with the King in Yellow. Satan is so damn cliched and quite frankly lame as it brings in all the other biblical characters into the narrative. Cthulhu is pretty comic book-ish at this point in time. The other Lovecraft monster names are just too much, and might end up sounding like some 60's sci-fi silliness like Zorgarth from the planet Gorthzon. King in Yellow is just perfect.

Outstanding television. Hart looking at himself in the mirror was pretty soul crushing. Not enough is said about the music in this show btw.

I thought the music stood out way more in this episode than in any previous, actually.
