Erik, I know you would, but I'm not taking some poor ass immigrant with a family to feed that makes a fraction of what I make to court and take away his house and deport him just because I got angry for 5 seconds.

Strictly road or will you be riding on any gravel? What's the budget?

eh, I don't really trust that any ride is "strictly road" which is why I've never gotten one, but it's for group rides and triathlons and shit. Budget is $1500, and I'd like to come in under 1K ideally because fuck money

Didn't see that post Eric, I'm in the middle of the woods with poor cell service, sorry. I think a light cyclo-cross bike is a good idea too, esp is capn doesn't like road only stigma

Picked up the new bike today...holy shit it's like night and day compared to the aluminum Giant.
Really light, and the shifting and braking are unbelievably smooth.

Thanks, Eric. I've never heard of Giant, but there is something appealing about "giant-bicycles.com"

So I did the 46 mile charity ride in Vermont Saturday. Took me 3:40 with rest stops. My brother in law did it 50 minutes faster than me. :(

did you feel good on the new bike?

Felt great aside from some lower back pain towards the end of the ride. I didn't train enough so I'm sure my body wasn't used to being in the saddle that long.
Oh and the ride had over 3000 feet of climbing.

Nice!
What's your opinion on getting a professional bike fitting? Worth 150 bux?

there is so much info out there on the interwebs about it, I would only do it if I was dropping cash on a new bike and the shop rolled some or all of the cost into the bike.

yeah I figured out the problem. my ass was killing me and I was going really, really slow.
I moved the seat forward to the max position. no more ass pain and my average went way up.
