Right right, wasn't thinking about him telling Jesse he's only doing this out of respect for Walt.

That was pretty weak. The man was on a first name, face to face basis with a Mexican drug cartel and he's in there with gangbangers? Didn't make sense at all.

I really liked the "half measure" scene. I kind of wish that guy had a little more screen time.
he's made it somewhat clear in the past that he's a hands on type of guy. that and the fact that the little problem between jessie and those other two guys were a problem with walt. it's not like it was some petty little issue between street soldiers. this directly involved the 2nd most important man in the cartel.

Exactly! 8)

Sneak preview for next week:

No spoilers or anything, just the opening 4 minute segment before the credits, I assume.

Yeah, Mike the P.I. is awesome. He's like a less-cartoony, bad-ass Wolf from Pulp Fiction. I have no idea what the hell is going to happen next week, but the preview of Walt walking in a field with the Heisenberg Run DMC-style hat on, while Gus says "Explain yourself..." looks fucking intense.

The one with the fly was maybe my favorite episode of this show so far.
That episode was awesome. And I don't think they'll go the straight good guy/bad guy route...they've never done that. Everyone goes back and forth. And it still surprises me. Can't wait for the finale...

I think it's amazing that Jesse killed Gale to save Walt, especially since he never had the stomach to pull the trigger in the past. It just shows how strong their bond between one another really is after all they've been though. Walt saved Jesse by killing a stranger last week and Jesse saved Walt by killing a stranger this week. Their relationship has come a long way from the beginning of the series and that is what honestly makes this show so great is their "odd couple" style relationship. It may be just me, but the episodes where Walt and Jesse aren't together in some dynamic are far inferior to the ones in which they are.

... and then Aaron Paul brilliantly brought all those qualms back as he showed a red-eyed, trembling Jesse bracing himself to pull the trigger and kill Gale. Bang, he's dead(**), and Walt has for now bought some time with Gus - who, with the cartel coming at him again, needs a talented meth cook far more than he needs revenge - but at the cost of Gale's life, and the last vestige of Jesse's own innocence. And any detente will only last as long as it takes for Gus to find a new way around his chemistry problem.

(**) Though the camera's movement right before Jesse pulls the trigger may have created the illusion that he aimed his gun elsewhere, Vince (who directed as well as wrote this one) says that was not his intention. Gale is not pining for the fjords; he is an ex-human.

See? Vince Gilligan himself has confirmed that Gale is dead.
My own theory:

I think Gale was an undercover DEA agent of some sort. I haven't read anything about that at all, it's just a hunch.

Now that is a cliffhanger. Jesus... these last two episodes might be the best of the series. Mike's scene at the chemical place was :moreawesome:

Gale's way too smart and knowledgeable about science to be an undercover agent.

Awesome finale. Even though he wasn't innocent, I still thought of Jesse as one of the few "good" people in this show, so I can't believe he actually did that. Poor Gale and his little infrared thermometer! I have no idea how Walt is going to survive working with Gus after this.

Cool interview at the same site from above...I can't believe these guys don't know what's going to happen...

Any predictions for the new season?
I could see Walt making a deal with the mexicans.. They had a callback scene in the last ep of the last season, and it would be somewhat unexpected.
Also worth noting that Gus can probably get the asian cook to finish that shit, thus making Walt that much more redundant.

Yeah, it was torture to wait for season 3 to be released. I am SO FUCKING PUMPED for the new season tonight! aaggghhh! I was late getting into the show, so this will be the first time I've seen it 'real time'. And, I'm stoked for the Walking Dead preview!

I don't agree. I don't necessarily think that he's an agent, but you could definitely have a PhD chemist who decides to work with the DEA. I teach with a DEA agent who is a forensic chemist.

Looks like Walt is trying to get Mike on his side, from what I saw in the preview for next week? That could be... interesting.
