Today I sat down at the front of the bus, on my way home from an orientation hike with the River Revitalization Foundation for class, and the older guy on the next bench over got up and moved away from me. That never happened before I got myself a wild, unkempt beard.

Definitely a sign to shave FOL. I had a somewhat similar experience last month when the cashier at my regular grocery spot asked me if I was paying with food stamps. I'm pretty sure I shaved that same night.
