I saw the new uber logo show up in the "garbage" folder of my phone and it instantly shut down everything that was going on in my day. it's just fantastically bad. it looks like a power-up icon you'd see in Halo. apparently the CEO had a major part in the design, which is a huge punchline if you work in design or know anyone who does.

I realized what is so nauseating about it - they used the background color as "negative space" that wasn't actually background. it screams "this is an unfinished sketch" in the worst way. my fix:

still tacky, but at least it makes some sense.

this is the too-similar india bank icon that send them back to the drawing board: there's something so repugnant about all this; like, infinite wealth harvested on the desparation of the poor, and some fuckface at the top thinking he can run everything. thinking he's an artist. I really hope I die before I come anywhere close to being that guy.

I know it's pretty obvious, but it took me a minute to put my finger on it. the internet is in a frenzy of hate about this thing lately, and I hadn't seen anyone else mention that aspect FWIW. mostly jokes about how it's a butthole, which I concede are the important jokes to be making at this juncture.
