speaking of which:

http://thegamerstudio.com/index.php/pc- ... kyrim.html
Some of the biggest changes in Skyrim are found in the quests. Much like previous entries, the quests are extremely varied in style and content. But this time around, quests adapt to the character. If you explored a cave that a quest would normally send you through, it will send you to an unexplored one instead. Quests also use NPCs that are around the area and not a dedicated NPC. Every new game deals with new NPCs. How this affects the dialog is unknown.

That's actually sounds pretty neat.

It will be glitched as hell at release.

If it was gamebryo, then yeah, I would agree, but that is not the case, so I'm gonna wait and play it till I judge.

Honestly, it CAN'T be worse than the last one.

yeah i liked the demo and found myself enjoying it way more than i wanted to considering how fruity and japanese it was. the combat wasn't really even developed but it had charm.

Yep, so I might just be playing it early due to that Alpha invite. I'm excited as all fuck for next week because of the beta, and it ends in time for The Walking Dead!
Here's a tip with Dead Island, jump kicks knock down the zombies unless they're one of the specials. I have to work on my timing when infected come running at me for that 5 kills with one hit. I was up to 4 then a slow walker came at me.

Resistance 2 is definitely better but 20 dollars used seems a little steep.

Do yourself a favor and don't even bother with any Resistance game. If you want to shoot things, you'd be better off buying Resident Evil 4 HD for $20 instead.

Care to elaborate? I've actually held off on buying R2 or the new one partially because absolutely everyone on this board seems to hate the Resistance games. I have the PSP one, and while I don't think it's particularly great, the creature design and the general retro-Euro-sci-fi setting are awesome, and the problems I have with the gameplay (clunky controls, repetitive combat) seem to have more to do with the fact that it's a PSP game than that it's a Resistance game. So... what's the problem?

Which has the better story?
:? I can't even say. I guess 2 has more cut scenes and character interactions. Yeah, I guess 2 does. I like 2's game play much better and it has better graphics. Fall of Man felt a bit too much like Halo cramped into WW2 Call of Duty. 2 is a bit less of that and more Quake 2 jammed in. I don't know. I have 3, but that's in que and I probably won't play it for some time.

Yahzee says Dead Island has completely bunk escort missions: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/ ... ead-Island. Say it ain't so, Reeelapse. Say it aint so! What's the story here? I will flat out sell the game back now if I have to deal with some total bullshit escort mess. Is it side quests only?

there's one or two but they're mostly inoffensive. hell, you can kill the person you're escorting and they'll respawn

it's simple math really. the Resistance games are garbage. not too hard to figure out

play Killzone instead.

resistance 2 is fine for a week of fun shooting if that's all you're after but it's certainly not anything you can't miss out on

I don't generally expect to get significantly more than that out of a shooter. It's very rare that a game like Killzone 2 or Crysis 2 comes along where I actually feel compelled to play through the SP a bajillion times until I've done god-knows-what that keeps me coming back, much less seriously get into the multiplayer.

Sounds to me like R2/3 are worth picking up if I can get them cheap and there's nothing else to play, basically.

I was one of the few people who got bored with RE4. I don't even remember if I finished it. I DO know I sold it.

Also... apparently the "HD" is not really HD and the textures look like shit up close.
like you'd even notice on your tv

I'll never get sick of saying this - playing the Killzone 2 campaign was like crawling naked through a Bolt Thrower riff. The atmosphere was absolutely outstanding, the weapons felt dangerous (including the significant recoil that pissed a lot of people off) and the enemy AI was terrifying, especially on harder difficulties. Plus squad spawning made it so that the objective-based multiplayer actually worked, and I ended up sinking endless hours into it. KZ3 is missing pretty much all of that except the good AI. It's still a good game, but it tries way too hard to be nice to you.

Has there been any shooter better than RE4 since it was released?

I didn't think so. Let me know when it happens.
