Are you a paralegal or something? What really needs to happen legally? Consent forms?TheDOAD wrote:If you guys actually make this happen. I could Probably provide the legal documents needed to get it to air.
That doesn't sound all that boring to me at all. I knew the "image and likeness" thing, but I didn't realize someone's house was part of the deal too.TheDOAD wrote:monsterod wrote:Are you a paralegal or something? A big part of my Job is Releases. Any Image, Sound or anything else you can imagine in a commercial needs to be released. Fonts, Locations. etc... Its not a joke. it comes down tot he fact that If say you put a picture of me Up in the commercial, out front of my own house, You would need signed written consent of both Me and my Landlord who owns the property in case either of us saw it there on tv and sued you into oblivion, which we could. Or say someone elses house is in the picture and you dont blur their Address number. BAM. Perhaps you wanted to use a font that you dont legally own or isnt free domain.
Every episode of every TV show shot in a public place has Binder upon binder of Legal releases that go in a vault never to be seen unless a lawsuit happens. But you need to have it locked down, especially on a major network.
I know I'm being a bit off the deep end here, but trust me. Better safe than sorry.
And yes my job can be miserable when i database footage shot in a public place. Really, you have no idea. And yes, We try to track those strangers down for consent after the fact. Even the old "wel it was a public gathering of the juggalos public place" does not hold up most of the time.
