TLDR is nobody, and I mean nobody should be shocked that the Republican party has a bunch of child molesters, serial sexual harassers and philanderers in it. Or any political party, really. But especially them.

A: Where you have a position of power, that power will be attractive to assholes who want to exploit it and aren't afraid to be assholes to do it.
B: There's only so much courting of the FLDS/Quiverfull/various Southern Baptist types you can do without winding up with candidates that have similar "values."
C: Authoritarianism is a shit belief system to espouse when you're talking about a government that's supposed to serve the people, because by definition it whitewashes the above.

We're an empire in decline that's rotten to the core and it's never been more obvious or heart wrenching to watch. Trump by himself is just a symptom and you're probably better off satirizing the system that gave rise to him than the specific individual.
