Metroid Fusion for the GBA is an excellent game, since you're looking to play metroidvania games.

one of my favorites.. although I tried playing through it a year or two ago again for the first time in years and I don't think it holds up as well unfortunately.

I just started playing the Saturn version of Castlevania's SOTN with Maria.. you can breeze through all the areas because she all kinds of special abilities from the start and is powerful as shit. Playing the bosses all out of order, I don't give a fuck! It's fun mindless fun compared to playing as Alucard and dealing with items, leveling, etc..

I came here to post exactly this. I'd been kind of tuning out the GTA5 hype, but holy shit.
No one does trailers like Rockstar and they always have great music to go along with them. I hope they put out a series of narrated gameplay trailers like the Red Dead and Max Payne 3 ones. Pumped for the game since it seems to be based more on heists and all that color.

I had to get up at 5am today, and goddamn Castlevania: SOTN music was bouncing around inside my head all night like a fucking pinball machine in multi-ball bonus mode... keeping me awake till almost 4am. I forgot that these 2D games do this to me from time to time. All started with Simon's Quest :ax:

Games great, though. As is the music. Although, I finally got all the equipment back the Grim Reaper janked, and that shit all sucks compared to what I already have equipped. Screw you, Dracula backwards :ax: :ax:

This is lack of sleep is making me silly, SILLY. Just bought two potentially cool, yet no doubtingly wacky, wacky silly games. Deadly Premonitions Director's Cut and FC3: Blood Dragon. Silly, I say, silly.

I started this late last night, and man. This is such a punch in the face to all of the shitty, half-assed nostalgia-based bames currently being generated by the pantload. Everything about this game is done with so much humor and heart that when I think of the people responsible I feel like

I've only done a couple missions but I heard tell there was a 16 bit sex montage   I really hope they got the license to use "Take My Breath Away" or "Time After Time"...

On another note:

DON'T STARVE is a new bame from the bros who made Mark of the Ninja. It's kind of a Minecraft/Terraria deal but with this great Edward Gorey-esque storybook art style. Also there's permadeath, and staying alive is really, really hard. (You starve pretty quick, but I think every time I've died it was from being killed by a creature...while trying not to starve.) It's still actually in beta but you can buy in on Steam and it's being updated frequently. I sprung for it after watching some videos and I'm digging it a lot.

So far the 3Ds is really scratching an itch for me in terms of gaming fatigue. I like the simple fun of it. Nintendo knows how to make/buy games for a handheld platform. The philosophies seem very different than what you'd have in a full fledged console and they're a lot of fun to play.
Whatever Nintendude, I was playing Soul Sacrifice this morning before work on the toilet. Vita does what NintenDON'T.

It runs deep with the Japanese, from what I've read. My understanding is that Western games never go anywhere in glorious Nippon.

Those comments in particular are weird because the main criticism of Japanese games from Westerners for the last 8 years or so is that they're becoming increasingly linear and requiring less and less input from the player :?
