Re: Latest movie you watched (1-10 scale)
When I caught the trailer for The Shape of Water, my eyes sprung, leaking a special Del Toro fluid. I will always, always open my tender anus for the gentle strokings of those sad, romantic Mexican stubfingers.
Also while I'm in this thread, Wonder Woman sucked, I fucking missed War for the Planet of the Apes (DVD leak soon pls), and Alien Covenant was a complete waste.
How the fuck do you spend 4 hours in space making androids talk about Byron and Shelley and the girl named ELIZABETH since 2012 was the queen bride all along, and your movie still sucks peepee?
Fucking waste of weirdness.

Suffer Little Children - oh no / my brains
The Slayer - 8.5/10
The Otherworld - 8/10
Kuso - 9/10
Shakes the Clown - 6/10
Prevenge - 9/10
Among the Living - 7/10
the Transfiguration - 10/10
Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 - 10/10 for the Cosmic Marvel easter eggs, 2/10 for the gay ass "fuck you, dad!" storyline.
It (2017) - 8/10
as far as crowd pleasing mainstream horror movies go, shit's alright. well shot, well acted... and i really like that Pennywise actually felt like a shape-shifting cosmic monstrosity instead of the Joker/Freddy Krueger/Beetlejuice hybrid from the TV version.

Arrival - 9/10
Whether you like the film as a whole will probably depend heavily on whether you're willing to accept its main premise (at least for the of the duration of the film), namely that the Sapir-Whorf-hypothesis is true. Even if you don't, you'll have to admit that he visuals, the sound design and the performances were great... it's poetry in motion. So looking forward to the new Bladerunner film after seeing this.

Re: Latest movie you watched (1-10 scale)
Anyone else kinda surprised by the surge of interest in "IT"?
I mean obviously Stephen King is popular, but I don't think I realized how many people really remembered or cared about IT specifically. It's like people want/need this new movie to be good, they have expectations - I find it surprising. I would've thought that almost everyone's memories of the property were based on the horrible TV miniseries, and therefore not think to hope for a substantiative new adaptation.
Same year as the Dark Tower, and only the usual nerds gave two fucks about that leading up to release.
Unrelated narcissistic portion of the post even worse than that first half:
I keep finding myself in these weird conversations where people who think Stephen King sucks are mad at me and expect me to defend him as some kinda literary heavyweight, so I can be wrong and they can prove it. I don't know what the fuck is going on.
I fucking love Stephen King, but it's in the way that you'd love a loyal, retarded dog who's been in the family since you were 12. Your life would've been incomplete without that dog, and it's a beautiful rewarding thing who saves you from drowning in a lake and brings you sticks, and pukes everywhere because it can't stop eating garbage, and it's ashamed because it knows it's not supposed to eat from the garbage, the poor hilarious dog. You don't love a dog like that because it's great at math and you don't rely on it to give you advice about your 401k. It's value is high and discernable, but it is not allowed inside most restaurants.
I don't know how to explain that, and I don't know why I keep being asked to. I'm going to stop going to parties.

You make a good point here. Much of King's stuff is at the very least decent literature because it's successful in what it wants to do, be scary. Most of it doesn't aim to be high art I guess, but it's still good shit. Apart from the first Gunslinger novel, which awesome surreal art.Eight Bit Alien wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2017 11:00 pm

I've been surprised at IT's success, too. Everything I'd seen from the film pointed to it being some uninspiring non scary bullshit that juggalos might enjoy...

I can't believe how good this looks. dave franco is just terrible as sestero but otherwise it's fine. seth rogen really doesn't need to be there doing rifftrax, but I guess to sell it to the uninitiated he does
anyway![Thumbs Up ](./images/smilies/thumbsuptesttw2.gif)

I don't know about you but I feel that it's been advertised the hell out of on Facebook. I've been seeing posts about it from over a year. Damn pronoun vs proper noun running wild here.Eight Bit Alien wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2017 11:00 pm Anyone else kinda surprised by the surge of interest in "IT"?
