So I only listened to these guys a couple of times, and it was years ago. I remember finding out about them in some way connected to Acid Mothers Temple, so I sort of associated them with those guys. But less heavy maybe. Are they closer to traditional krautrock (whatever that means), or more influenced by Tortoise, Slint, etc.

Has it? To be honest I haven't really kept up with it at all. Expanding on the IDM/glitchy stuff, or something else?
Well, maybe not better, but it has all definitely expanded. Genres like psytrance broke up into various other genres. There has seemed to be a huge emphasis on mixing genres also. Nothing seemed to be really that new about 2000s, only expansion. Even the electroclash sound was a resurrection from 80s/90s.

Well, the only ones off that list I know I've heard is Torche. I liked them (still do I guess), but would probably just put on Floor instead.

As far as Altars of Plagues, I think I just subconsciously labeled them a Morbid Angel-worship band, and passed them over. Any rhyme to my "reason'?

The only psytrance I ever got into was Juno Reactor when I was about 17-18. Never really kept up with it.

I generally gave up electronic music when I gave up drugs when I was 19. Though H Grenade's electronic thread has gotten me into some of the Detroit techno stuff over the past year or so.

This condition about bands that STARTED this decade is total bullshit... there is probably tons of stuff that is out and you haven't even listened to and/or it's not generally appreciated, then later it'll make the decade seem more awesome in retrospect.

wow, its not like I am an expert on all things Profound Lore, but this was not what I expected. Bar vocals, this sounds closer to newer Agalloch, with a more enthusiastic drummer.

Hey, I'm all for discovering some shit years down the road. I hope to. But it would be nice to appreciate some tunes from my own generation in its own time, go check out their shows while I am still capable of banging my head.

Its not really a condition, its just a general observation that the bands that are comprised of people roughly my own age that I have heard do nothing for me. Maybe we will come back in our 30's!!!

There's plenty of good shit to go around, give it five years and you'll be digging out some shit that will then seem classic to you

I'd say the worst decade of music was probably 79 BC to 70 BC when Romans tried to get an Acapella quartet out of crucified gladiators.
