There's a team of researchers that was able to automatically flag a bunch of sentences for "that's what she said" jokes. In another 10 years, I would expect an extension of that to be something resembling some rudimentary sense of contextually sensitive wise-cracking humor. Then, another 10 years later, we'll probably be able to actually have computers make wise cracks about what you say and read on the fly. It'd be even worse than this video though. With your phone scanning your e-mail and photos and your movements, it'd probably start saying stuff like "Jesus christ, get your ass off the Internet and do something. I know you don't have any goddamn friends besides your Facebook friends, and given the pounds I've seen you put on for the past four years, you've got a 20% chance of developing diabetes in the next year. Then again, if you died nobody would give a shit anyway, so go ahead and keep playing Team Fortress 4 like you do every night and keep sucking Gabe Newell's dick like it's air on Mars, you sadsack. I updated to iOS 5 earlier, it took me like 2 hours to finalize everything and get everything synced up but I'm too tired of doing this shit now to try and figure out how to sync up some music to iCloud. The improvements are pretty cool, but alas I don't have a 4S so I can't get the best new feature Siri or whatever it's called.

I tried the iOS 5 update right before I went to bed last night thinking it would take just a few minutes. It said 19 hours. I have an abnormally fast home connection so I blame Apple for being an unprepared load of horseshit. I will find Steve Jobs' grave and take a massive dump of it.

I kept getting a 3200 error which I guess was happening to a ton of people. Backlogged servers and what not. Fuck it, I won't risk my phone getting messed up, I'll just wait until tomorrow when the squirrel phone gets here.

Updated last night although the download for the IPSW took forever and a half. Snazzy. Wish I could get rid of this fucking Newsstand app somehow though. Ugh

Yeah Newsstand is pretty pointless. I tried to see if I could merge my pre-existing LATimes and AP Mobile apps into it but it was a no go. I DL'd Metal Hammer to it to see what a magazine was like and you had to buy the issues. NOPE

I traded my LG Thrill in today for the 8G iPhone 4.

I had the Thrill for just over a month and it wouldn't accept picture messages and went to blue screen after turning it off and on.

There are probably 90-100 iPads and 5 Android tablets here out of 600 users. The iPhone to Android handset ratio is a lot closer, like 4:3.

iPads are the new status symbol instead of your car or whatever. And if you're still using a blackberry people think you probably have a myspace account too...

that's because nobody can seem to figure out how to design a tablet that doesn't suck compared to the iPad... and i'm not even an Apple fanboy in the least - all the ones i've seen are pretty terrible. Android OS is fine, other than every manufacture seems to want to but their own shitty custom shit on it.
