The Schwartz wrote:Speaking of things that over 70 players had higher rates in how about that 23 hr 82 RBI 70 run production line while being a DH disguised as a CF in one of mlbs deepest parks is pretty impressive but if your argument is why not because he got a pat on the back nod to the A's season instead of earning actual MVP accolades then sure why the hell not
I can barely read this. those numbers were accumulated in 129 games, and he showed improvement over the course of the season. pointing out that he hit 23 home runs and drove in 82 in his shortened first major league season doesn't seem like an indictment exactly. you're right- he isn't a good center fielder, or at least didn't play like one last season (though his arm probably saved a few runs)...but since when does anyone give a shit about that when considering MVP votes?

He's a good corner outfielder, and will get better as he trusts himself to play in more. Great arm.

I'd bet on the Cubs over Boston or the Yankees at this point though. I just don't know how the Yankees are looking this morbid, considering they went to the ALCS last season.

With the way he is progressing its a possibility we will first see him for a good chunk in 14 definitely full time in 15

An outfield of Brett Jackson, Soler, and Almora is going to be insane

Add in Rizzo, Starlin, and Javier Baez I'm actually happy being a cubs fan

I don't get the Dodger's current ploy. They signed Puig to a sizable contract, having never played in the minors, yet he's projected to be a stud. If they want to bring him up, then at some point they'll have to trade Ethier, but they just gave him a huge deal through his late 30s. He's their only outfielder not signed to at least $100 million (just barely), and he's way overpaid so the organization will have to absorb a shitload in a trade, unless the Yankees pick him up. No one will take on Crawford's deal, and it would be stupid to trade Kemp. :?

they just don't give any shits about anything

they'll find a buyer for ethier once they need to get rid of him. dayton moore, probably. definitely a headscratcher

venters sprained his elbow. I'd say that's bad, but his presence probably doesn't really matter much 'til the playoffs. they're not better than the nats with him, and they're not worse than the mets or phils without him. the central isn't great this season, either, so they have a good opportunity to win the wild card

Venters has looked bad, even most of last year. I used to like seeing him pitch, but something is off - way off, and it's always an adventure now. the highly touted Braves bullpen might suck dick this year. honestly the rotation isn't that good in the absence of Beachy. I'm not nearly as enamored with Medlen, his dominance was a fluke for me. decent but not special. Maholm is just a guy, Hudson is old as shit, Minor isn't great and is sometimes gonna be pretty bad. Teheran might be the bright spot.

ready for real games

yeah he looked pretty bad last year...but obviously he has an extraordinary amount of ability and relievers are pretty volatile. I was expecting a bounce-back. but elbow sprains are the sort of thing that end up hanging around and then tommy john surgery is around the corner or some shit

it's hard to believe that medlen is for real- but his numbers are pretty fucking for real. he's not one of those no-k cardinals fluke assholes, or a dude like aaron small. he's not mid 1 ERA good, clearly, but his expected numbers given last years rates are still outrageous

venters is going on the DL for an elbow problem. this can probably go back to fredi using him 9 billion times because he's a god damn moron.

speaking of half-headed pitching management, does anyone else have a huge problem with what they're doing with aroldis in cinci? they should at least TRY starting the dude...and if that's really not something that they believe will work out, at least fucking have the decency to tell him. and why sink all of this money into the bullpen if you're not going to start him? broxton is a little scary, but the dude can close
