How long did the ride take Elementary13 ?

And your 8 beers still comes out to over 800 calories, so your "450cal" bike ride is still only putting just over a 50% dent in your alcohol intake. Which is what I said.

I need you to be honest with me if you want my help Ergonomic13

And again, even if he is, there's still 800 empty carb beer calories going in every day. Not to mention the damage the alcohol's doing.

It's like watching a guy lying in bed going, "Why can't I get out of bed ?! Look, I'm using my legs." *waves legs around aimlessly*
And you reply, "Well push with your arms and put your legs on the floor."
And he waggles his legs harder and goes, "No look my legs are moving. Why aren't I getting up."
So you say, "Dude if you don't put your feet on the floor it doesn't matter how much you wave your legs around."
And he sighs and says, "Hopefully rotting will give me some advice."

9 miles in 35 minutes isn't too bad considering it's probably his first physical exercise since PE class back in highschool. Erik, the most important thing now is that you keep doing this regularly (about three times a week, every other day is ideal, don't overdo it at first) and steadily increase the distance. You'll eventually want to find routes where you can cover some altitude once your cardio gets better to make it more efficient.

Your diet plan sounds ok, but how many of those sandwiches do you have in between the meals? And really, dude, the booze - it's gotta go. If you're ever gonna get healthy, you have to stop drinking every day.

Agree with the first part, my commute is 14 km each way (a little under 9 miles) and it takes me around 40 minutes. He is keeping around 27 km/h what is really good for a casual rider. I guess he is probably overdoing it, so I would advise him to slow down the pace a bit and increase the distance.

And I do not think Ergo13 is totally unfit, as far as I know his work is very physical. An unfit person could not ride a bicycle for 35 minutes at 27 km/h.

Yep to all of this, and you're right, there must be some basic conditioning there or he couldn't have done it - which is good because it's something he can build on and it'll be easier to stay motivated because it won't be completely excruciating at first. And yeah, especially if the point is weight loss, take it a bit slower and go farther.

And stop fucking drinking every single day.

Well, if you want my advice, elvin, I'd suggest listening to the others and limiting your alcohol use drastically. I refuse to be your 'out' and watch you die. You also should consider weight training in addition to cardio, lest you lose weight but stay skinny fat.

It's not a matter of relaxing though, it's alcoholism.
