It's been years since I've seen this. Any HD version these days, or does it get the same Russian stepchild treatment that STALKER and ilk gets?

just dvd which very strangely splits the movie onto 2 discs

really good first time experience and I'll be interested to see if my rating goes higher the second time. I liked everything except the end with all the stock footage going in reverse.

The Day the Earth Stood Still - 3/10

A movie about the end of the world where absolutely nothing interesting happens for 100 minutes. Jennifer Connelly looks bored the whole time.

inside job - 6/10

a ton of useful & important information but i got pretty annoyed by how much they breezed by things. i understand that the subject matter is fairly complex and you want to make it accessible to the widest audience possible and only have so much time, however if you tackle a subject like this i guess i feel that you at least somewhat owe at least something of an economics lesson to the audience for frame of reference. worse than any of that, though, was simply how self-important this all was; the bass booming every time they showed the "______ refused to be interviewed for this film." like it was a massive black mark against them that they didn't want to make time for some movie ? and then the interviews that did happen were just fucking terrible self-congratulatory faux-hard-hitting bullshit where the camera would cut away from the person even got a chance to answer the question. i know documentaries, particularly political ones are going to have an opinion but this one was such a hatchet job propaganda piece it was infuriating; people watching this are probably already not in the fucking 1% so why not actually let the answers of these people speak for themselves instead of just turning it into a pointless game of make the rich guy look stupid.

Crazy Stupid Love: 3.5/10

Disclaimer: I have a wife, otherwise I wouldn't have even known this movie existed

.5 for Ryan Gosling because he's fucking cool, no shame in admitting it

3 points because even though like half the time she's pretty underwhelming I still desperately want to put it in Emma Stone's butt
