Last Jedi is a great Star Wars movie. Solo has no reason to exist. Saw it yesterday and it was like watching paint dry. Just by-the-numbers, safe, boring pap. I would've preferred it to be flamboyantly shite like the prequels. At least then I could've had a laugh instead of a nap

I don’t understand this “didn’t need to be made” criticism I keep seeing of Solo. You can say that about basically any dumb fun popcorn movie. It was a space western and was entertaining. I’m not sure why people keep trying to bolt Noble Purpose onto it and complaining about the movie when it falls off.

Because it was neither fun, nor entertaining to me. And because we already have four movies featuring this character's arc. No reason to go backward to the well again.

Re: Tickled, I just went to a memorial service for a family friend and found that it was in david d’amato’s old apartment building. I wanted to ask some of the residents about him, but I thought that might be in poor taste. RIP d’amato.

that steve martin/martin short thing was kind of shitty but pretty decent and worth the watch. if not just for martin short being played like a bagpipe and steve slaying the banjo. other than that its just two old awesome dudes insulting each other for an hour. a good drunk watch. 7.5/10

valerian 5/10 a total shame that the leads sucked so hard - really fun production design & world building

it comes at night 6/10 probably would've liked this better in a theater

eh.... just didn't click with me. i didn't aggressively hate it or anything, but none of the characters held my interest. also i know Blade Runner basically invented the whole "crowded rainy future city" thing, but in the thirty-whatever years since then it has been done to death. 2049 basically felt like a nowadays At The Gates record.

I hear ya. for all the cool sights/sounds it was kinda hollow in certain ways. I don't think this was an overdose of the rainy/crowded city aspect - I like that it mixed up the environments AND weather ❄️
