Anyone read William Kotzwinkle? “The Fan Man” and “Doctor Rat” were recently recommended to me.

Coming close to the end of this. Is the Jewish character named "Blum" supposed to be a parody of Leopold Bloom? Even though they are nothing alike.( or maybe they are supposed to be alike? With all the mentioning of cuckolding. Hard to tell with everything written so oblique. And Ulysses is already a parody of The Odyssey so maybe it's supposed to be super meta-post modern faggotry) Seems like a lot of the characters names are jokes ("Wack" etc.)

About 1/5th through "Dr Rat". The person who recommended it to me couldn't finish it and everyone they know who's read it said it fucked them up. I hope I go insane.

piranesi 8.2/10 I really liked this! ethereal and sort of motivated me to be less miserable all the time

song of the cell 7/10 it’s good but not EVERYTHING is a “cellular” disease. it would be like a cookbook that kept calling all the ingredients & processes “molecular”

why we sleep 5/10 this author is full of shit about half this stuff. there’s this funny podcast called if books could kill, dedicated to trashing pop phenomenon airport books, and I’m praying they tackle this book one day

urth of the new sun - i won’t even rate this because i did such a bad job with it. at some point i sort of gave up hope and let it wash over me. 95% of my book intake is audio, and in this case it afforded me the insane experience of getting the story fed into my brain while in semi-conscious. would recommend! the think with the giant woman (?) was already like a fever dream and i managed to have this taken to a new level…

It's on my reading list, maybe I should bump it up.
