PRETTY FUCKING GOOD ACTUALLY.
especially considering their black label "bier" was fucking GROSS.
still, the high alcohol content pours with about ZERO head.

this was preceded by the Alaskan Baltic Porter which was pretty awful...aside from a strong alcohol flavor kind of similar to shochu...

Just hit the funnel a couple times to get through a 40 of Olde English. Makes me wish I had Steel Reserve, at least that's 8.7%. 2/10

Too many micro-brews fall into the trap of either over-hopping them, or falling into the totally bland category.
These are the two I thought of immediately as 'the good 'Merican brown ales'
the hazelnut is so fucking good

I just bought the Corsendonk Xmas 08 Ale...I'll report back once I drink it. It was the LAST one at the store, with no other shipments coming in, so I'm saving it.

Anderson Valley Winter Solstice on tap!! 9/10
Delicious, delicious beer...probably my favorite winter brew.

Also finished off a Magic Hat variety pack
Magic Hat Roxy Rolles 7/10
It was pretty sour and had to grow on me but by last night I was liking it alright indeed.
Magic Hat Odd Notion 8/10
Brewed with Honey and is awesome.

Magic Hat is pretty gimmicky and hit and miss.. some pretty good brews though. I just will never understand why number 9 is so popular and is their flagship.. that stuff is just god awful.

Lowenbrau 9/10 - so smooth and drinkable, goes great with a bowl of headies. Probably the best beer/pot combo I can think of.

I actually like #9 but I can sort of see where your coming from. I really wish they would roll out some of their other beers to the same degree they do with #9.

Like a fruity girl beer and a manly stout all in one. So much better from the tap though (what isn't?)

bottle - 8/10
tap - 9/10
Really? I thought of it more as a fruity girl stout....
Shut your bitchass up. Also, not beer, but since a precedent has been set..

There's a local brewery here called Smoky Mountain Brewery in a local restaurant chain named Calhoun's. I've always enjoyed their beers mightily, and tonight I tried their Winter Warmer which was also a delight. 7/10

New Glarus Fat Squirrel Nut Brown Ale - 6

Eh, it as alright. I'm not real huge on beers that taste like coffee. Probably my least favorite New Glarus product.
