He thinks of himself as a Liberal Icon now. Shit...Establishment? That's not an easy position to be in. Especially since the generation that he's supposed to constantly attract (people much younger than me and you?) must be utterly foreign to him. So, okay, he hires a younger writing staff...does he even understand what they're saying? I don't know.

He's been fading lately, IMO.

Lately? That show got immediately worse when they changed formats and no longer needed their correspondents -- Corddry, Colbert, Riggle -- who were always the best part of the show. The highlights are still the pieces done by the non-Stewarts like James Oliver and that Schall chick (Kristin?). Stewart's not funny/versatile enough to carry the whole show.

But he's not just some talking head. It's his show. And whatever "younger writers" he's hiring probably all grew up watching by The Daily Show, which has been on for what, twelve years now? It's not like it's getting more youth oriented. If anything, it gets drier and more boring every year.
