everyone was saying "best since whitney" so I watched that and it's a laugh-riot thanks to the orchestration, on top of being DQ'd for being canned:

The Whitney version is overrated and it only lead to the outrageous use of legato runs and melodic decoration that soiled the following 20 years worth of renditions.
Not the Super Bowl, but this is the all-time best version of the anthem:

hahaha, that's wild - I don't like how he dragged out the "o say" line (it's a terrible place to lose momentum!) but it rules overall

I thought I made a whole post about how gaga was maybe banging bradley cooper and put a pic of her topless with kanye and it was all very distressing? maybe it's better that it never appeared or was baleted...
new single:
karaoke'd:
first few times I heard this song I thought it sucked, but then I listened to it through headphones instead of shitty speakers and I came around. reminds me of cher or something. a lot of internet people seem distressed that there's "no chorus" - it's actually just a chorus instead of pre-chorus + chorus, and yeah that's not typical for her. but I guess she and metallica are all about those 3:00 songs so sacrifices must be made...

I was reading some article about genius math kids and it mentioned off hand that lady gaga was one of the kids that got into harvard or whereever's school for kids too smart for school school.
(the comments under that article are heartwarmingly insane, btw)
Many of the innovators who are advancing science, technology and culture are those whose unique cognitive abilities were identified and supported in their early years through enrichment programmes such as Johns Hopkins University's Center for Talented Youth — which Stanley began in the 1980s as an adjunct to SMPY. At the start, both the study and the centre were open to young adolescents who scored in the top 1% on university entrance exams. Pioneering mathematicians Terence Tao and Lenhard Ng were one-percenters, as were Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg, Google co-founder Sergey Brin and musician Stefani Germanotta (Lady Gaga), who all passed through the Hopkins centre.
some other article says: "Just as a select group of gifted kids do today, she spent three weeks of summer in an intense learning program that offered classes on everything from math to robots to monsters."
she had a holiday special at her former catholic school (which looked like hogwarts), where she attended from age 11 up

and that plot showing correlation between high test scores & achievement says so much - it's so frustrating that people still pretend that hard work is worth anything today. I want to see those economic mobility stats broken down by IQ. I suspect that if you're born broke and stupid, you can bust your ass for a lifetime and you're PROBABLY going to die poor...
Are we looking at what I think we're looking at? Bungvox?

new album is kind of annoying with its stripped-down production & songwriting, which ends up feeling more contrived than her ott theatricality
but maybe that's just how it feels to a cornball metal apologist
the song with florence (of "& the machine") fame is a total waste
this mark ronson shithead has his hands all over this record - he's probably my most-hated clown of mainstream music; makes artificial garbage that simple people find genuine
this song about her dead aunt is nice

I noticed that too
I saw an internet comment that was concerned about her swinging the mic around by the corn in a crowded space, since she might hit someone - you wouldn't last a second in THE PIT, motherfucker!
