I'm not a FPS fan anymore either but I don't feel that way with Borderlands, it was like Fallout for me. There is just more going on in those titles where it doesn't feel stale. I guess Borderlands is pretty repetitive but it was some of the most fun I've had with a game sans the horrible fucking ending. I love the art style I loved the weapons and I loved the humor. I'm probably the only person here who will say this but I kind of fucking loved claptrap.

speaking of FPS's I'm playing Spec Ops, I don't care how interesting the moral story is, the constant point and shoot military single player games fucking suck. There really is no variety in the gameplay, it's enter a room, baddies fill the room, repeatedly shoot baddies for 15 minutes while your AI bros shoot baddies at point blank range while doing no damage to baddies and vice versa, repeat stupid shit over and over again.

The cut scenes are pretty cool and I'll finish it just for the story but there is nothing fun at all about playing it.

Thanks. Saved me some cash. I kept hearing how this story is mindblowing, and I love a good video game story no matter how flawed and amateur they usually are, but if the gameplay sucks I'll just youtube or wiki it. I'm pretty tired of killing Arabs and Russians. Will I ever get to shoot white trash Americans? :?

I don't know. I like Spec Ops's, game play. For a cover based 3rd person shooter I thought it was more challenging, and more fun than Gears of War and Uncharted.

I just got hundreds of awesome, fun exciting hours out of fallout and about 15 so so hours of borderlands before it became the same pointless boring shit over and over.

I will pick up BL2 becasue it looks a little more varied. I did not hate the first but the fucking "missions" were just so boring. its like RAGE.

aw shit man I didn't even care about the missions I was just a nigga in nawleans for 50 hours

oh yea I guess it is 3rd person, Uncharted 1 alone was millions of funloads more fun than anything in Spec Ops

as a borderlands apologist i have to agree with this but its just more a problem with the state of modern games in general to me..

once you see the fetch quest in everything you're basically disconnected from the matrix and it becomes harder and harder to enjoy things

In its current state, it's horrendous but after you apply this simple mod:

http://blog.metaclassofnil.com/?tag=dsfix

It's fucking great. It looks amazing and the framerate is fairly consistent. Also, don't use kb/m, just use a 360 or PS3 pad (but that requires MotionJoy).

GODDAMN IT!!
Quite possibly the most surprising Episode yet for The Walking Dead game, the next one looks very creepy!
Okay so big news for Hitman fans, David Bateson WILL be the voice of Agent 47 in Absolution. See, that's what they get for bringing in a totally different style of voice actor, it wasn't going to stick. Also, I've pretty much done everything in Sleeping Dogs already. Literally 4-5 trophies off from having 100% of the game done already. They really should've added more to it.

Borderlands backlash is plain silly. And the General Knoxx DLC was pretty damn funny.

It's not a game to play by yourself, you need to posse up and get after that loot nigga.

i'm coming to terms with the fact that i think i've played borderlands possibly more than any other game ever. a lot of the missions are kind of bland and boring but the atmosphere makes up for it. it's all about the pinata anyway. the prospect of loot drops doesn't appeal to you then obviously this isn't your kind of game

plus it's fun co-op
if there's anybody in the world who'd be fucking unobservant enough to actually damage themselves with trap-soap I guess it'd be the guy with dialup in 2007

We'll agree to disagree here, but I hated Uncharted's combat (the first game that is) and while I did enjoy Gears, I'd just rather play The Line from here on out if I want to play that sort of a game. In fact, I think I'm going to sell back all the Gears games, as it's time to make room on the old shelf and Gears wasn't that great that I ever ponder replaying it when I scan the shelf.

Skyrim crash bug was one time only, so that game goes on. Based on previous posts in this thread I was going to throw in Borderlands and give it one more try, but Skyrim ended up working and then sucked me in. Oddly enough, I think recovering from the bug crash fixed something as my nightmare horse (Dark brotherhood) suddenly reappeared. I haven't seen him for months.
