yeah, I've been sick and don't feel like doing shit tonight, so I'll be watching it using the PS4 live events viewer. hopefully it skews more toward showing new stuff than just awards.
there's also the Sony event this weekend and apparently a few of their studios have hinted at reveals of new things. I hope so, because the Sony exclusives in the near future are looking pretty mehhhh right now (not counting Bloodborne).

I have all these newfangled games to play, but I'm in the mood to play this rather badly.

Injustice for the PS4 is free on PS+ right now. Having played it for about 20 minutes, I can safely say that free is the correct price.

agreed, they should have opened the show with a hard look in the mirror and a brutal indictment of their recent failings.

I finished The Evil Within. Total clear time 12:50, number of deaths 21. It felt like way more, but that’s probably because I would sometimes just reload when I knew I’d screwed up a section really bad.
It’s definitely uneven and a bit janky at times, but I liked it a lot. It has tons of personality, and like RE4 it has a really great sense of pacing: you’re never stuck in any one area or doing any one thing long enough to get bored, and the "lol dream logic" framing actually works really well in that respect. I found that variety really refreshing, considering how so much of modern game design amounts to "huge map filled with shitty minigames repeated over and over".
Re: the story,
Also, I think it has pretty much the best headshots in a video game ever.

SPOILERSPOILER_SHOW
I was sure that in the end you would discover that you’re just another mental patient from the asylum, and that the “Sebastian” character was someone you saw in a movie, explaining all the silly hard-boiled detective cliches that litter the game. I really liked the idea that the Laura monster was created from Ruvik’s tormented memories of his sister mixed with the J-horror movie you see the poster of in Chapter 11 (“Black Hair Curse”).
I actually think the game would've been better if it embraced that self-referential, "you're trapped in a horror movie!" element a little more. I think it could've done so and still been intense and scary, rather than tongue-in-cheek like Shadows of the Damned.
In the end there are still a lot of unanswered questions and/or plot holes re: Leslie, Kidman, the mysterious organization, etc. At the same time, I don’t really care; I think it’s best to just think of the game as “Nightmares have kidnapped your psyche. Are you a bad enough dude to rescue your mind?”

Approximately 30%, and it's happened 3 times already.Spooky Apparition wrote:how far are you? sounds annoying, but it hasn't happened to me yet and I'm about 40% through the main story I think...Blair wrote:Oh, I wonder when the next time I'll be drugged, stripped of my gear, and have to escape capture AGAIN in fucking FC4.
Slinky: the amount of animal atrocities I've committed in this game is insane. I make up for it by never killing any of the pleasant mountain folk though. I like those guys.

Far Cry 2 understood black metal...Cryptoplasty wrote:Far Cry 2 was fucking real.Blair wrote: Makes me appreciate how nonintrusive FC2 was.
That game hated you as the player. It wanted to make you hate being there. It wanted to make you feel like you were in the middle of an African jungle with no direction fighting for survival. Travel was frustrating, you constantly had malaria, weapons jammed all the time, and all the NPCs hated you. The main town was hostile and bleak. There was no retarded story or dumb QTEs. It was so much less scripted and organized compared to Far Cry 3 (and probably 4). It was such a weird fucking game, but I loved it.

Dead Space 2 was ten dallah on Origin. Liking this fine so far, certainly feels a lot like the first one. Although I liked it better when you didn't realize Isaac was crazy and seeing things.
Battlefield 4 was also ten dallah. Don't like that one at all. No sir.
