While Krieg was bleeding into his panties because my PC's my living room entertainment center, I was beating God of War Ascension. 9:37 hours according to the in-game timer. The verdict: Meh.

If we ignore the fact that like II and III, this is yet again basically the same game with a few tweaks, it's still not very good. My biggest issue is that the SP clearly wasn't playtested enough, probably because the MP took up too many resources. There are weird graphical bugs, one time my weapons just disappeared and Kratos was flailing his arms empty-handed (!), the ghost clone item doesn't always work correctly, etc. And the gameplay just isn't the ultra-refined smooth perfection that the GoW games have always been. So it's the same thing, just not as good.

Barring the aforementioned bugs, the graphics are the best in the series, the creature design is better than ever, the new kill minigames are fun (although they don't always communicate what you're supposed to do well, and you end up failing QTEs because you thought you were supposed to mash the attack button - yet another playtesting issue), and the level design is off the charts. Multiplayer's a joke. I've played for maybe five minutes and I have no intention of ever looking at it again.

But the bottom line is, I still beat it in three days because I couldn't stop playing.

7/10

I threw in that there Warfighter and the game wanted to download some huge ass patch. :? When that was done, it wanted me to install a few GB of shit off the multiplayer disk :x When it finally honored me by letting me play it, it was fine... for the first level. Then, it wanted me to play a tutorial level ( after already playing the game  ) where I was a filthy camel jockey, and I just stopped. I just didn't want to play it anymore.

Threw BL2 on and played that most of the night. Going back to the main campaign after leveling up a bit on the DLC made the game much more enjoyable as bad guys were less so damn bullet spongy. Also reorganized my special abilities tree, that also made things better. Slow and steady, and I'll win this race one day.

Just noting the irony in worries about clutter in a 1200+ page thread. This board and it's fear of new threadz...

Nevermind. People were speculating an extra download (like Sleeping Dogs and Skyrim) because the recommended specs said 25-30 GB of hdd space but the HD textures are already in the game.

Game is amazing so far.

2K Games was kind enough to unlock it at 11 pm my local time as opposed to the usual lumping my region in with Europeans and unlocking it on Thursday or Friday.

it is on GOG.com, but you will have to sign up.

otherwise, i think bitsnoop.com has a torrent of the GOG version you can steal.

The game broke series sales records at launch, becoming the biggest-selling launch of 2013 so far.

Goddammit if I don't get a Sleeping Dogs sequel with Wei Shen messing up dudes in Bangkok / Osaka / Kuala Lumpur, I will quit gaming. He's easily the best new voiced protagonist in many years.

jesus christ.... "The company had originally expected to make nearly £25 million in profit, according to Eurogamer, but will now make a £90 million loss." HOW!? did they have a bunch of big budget flops i'm not aware of? did their accountant have a lobotomy at some point? was tomb raider supposed to sell like 10 million copies?

It is different with every game but sometimes we get Euro release dates (Thurs. / Fri.) or we get NA release dates. Depends on the publisher.

A small portion, yes. I'd also say that video game publishers are some of the most anti-consumer, abhorrent companies in the world.

Present company excluded of course. Oh and most of the 1up crew.... but they just finally bit the dust.
