I've never played a JRPG as long as I played that one. I think I logged like 25 hours into it and that is a rare, rare thing for me. I don't know why that game hit me in the gut way more than any other FF, but it did.

December for Japan. No word on release date for the west.

FFX was so cheesy sentimental, but I really got into it the same way I did FFVII (fucking blitzball). I even liked most of X-2, though it felt guilty considering its J-Pop elements.

I don't think the Xbone is winning anything. Dead Rising 3 looks and sounds like a piece of shit. Frequent dips below 30 fps

what the fuck is that. Ryse looks cool because of the setting but the actual gameplay has been getting less than stellar reviews. Crytek has only released shooters, dunno if they can make a good action game.

The great games won't be coming until mid to late 2014.

Killzone Rico. The beefy Latino dude who inexplicably talks like a black guy and, like Kratos (who is also not black and inexplicably voiced by a very audibly black actor), grunts a lot and generally doesn't have an indoor voice.

most definitely not worried about killzone. the single player might prove to be more of the same, but that multiplayer looks fantastic. still getting good review from the few places i trust.

the shit i'm "worried" about is how i hear FIFA is just a shinier version of current gen. NBA 2k is the only sports game out that looks decidedly next gen. it looks stunning. but there's no way im about to buy a basketball game. i bet the first NHL game next year will probably not be worth it

I think both ac4 and bf4 are rumored to be running at lower resolutions on the xbox versus the ps4.

Mike Pretends He's the Bill and/or Pisscubes, Episode I: The one with the first 80 minutes or so of Remember Me.

So far it's basically what all the reviews said. The basic premise of the story is really cool, the visuals are nice, and the memory remixing part of the game seems to be fun, though there's only been one so far. It's basically puzzle solving, so once the novelty of how well implemented it is (you rewind through another character's memory and change details, then wait to see how the alternate versions play out, trying to get a specific outcome) wears off, it'll be down to whether or not the puzzles are any good. Combat is pretty terrible. It's like someone took the Arkham games' basic combat and thought, let's see how we can make this clunky and annoying. And overall it just doesn't really control all that well, the camera feels janky, the climbing sucks, it's just all kinda rough.

bf4 was confirmed by EA to be running higher on ps4. it's either 1080 or more likely 900p; xbone is 720

also hideo kojima lives in a fantasy land where the only things that matter in life are himself, robots, and food. and that's why i love him. but i wouldn't take anything he says at any kind of value.

also I can try streaming some stuff this weekend if people want, but I'm not sure what you'd even want to see.

as far as i know that stuff is all universal between ps3/4 and vita. the smartphone app is out, it even shows trophy rarity for older games. pretty cool to see how rare some of that stuff is.

haven't downloaded the app yet, but that's cool they added rarity for old trophies too. and supposedly from the app you can select a friend with a PS4 and either look in on their game/ask for permission to look in.
