I don't drink for the flavor. I drink the cheapest shit available because I want to be fucking destroyed. I did a gig at the end of last year and I forgot to invoice the client right away so i didn't do it for a little over a month. And after sending the invoice I heard from a colleague that the production company closed or went out of business or something (and not in a shady way) and basically didn't exist anymore so i figured I wasn't going to get paid. I didn't really pursue it because I didn't have a lot of recourse and figured whats the point in trying to contact a company that doesn't exist anymore. Fast forward to today and I get home and my wife mentioned that I got a check in the mail from (client name) for the right amount of money. Pretty stoked and I got a life lesson out of it: send invoices fast.

our spread yesterday was kalbi short rib, barbecue chicken, chicken katsu, kalua pork, barbecue beef, some other marinated pork i think, macaroni/potato salad (combined, which is way better than i would have guessed), some noodle dish, and white rice

three things i have to maximize before i move to the midwest: hawaiian bbq, mexican, and tommy's

also thread relevant: found out like a month after we move there, some music/literary festivalish thing is in town and apart from some okay indie bands, russian circles is playing so that's a nice thing

continued the last gasp socal food tour with a stop at the kogi bbq truck tonight... holy shit. you know how sometimes you fall asleep and quickly start dreaming, and your brain accepts as established facts any number of out-of-the-ordinary variables? that's how this food felt to me, like a primal yearning from my taste buds that always knew what they wanted without ever having tasted it until now
