Taxe Refund?

Anyone filed yet? Owe or refunded?

I learned today that I'll be getting $1505 back. Half of which will go to a lawyer to save my license from a ticket I got for doing 131 mph in a 70 last weekend. The rest I'll save for a weekend vacation or some other rainy day bullshit.

don't know yet, but I adjusted my w4 by a ridiculous amount (something like 9 allowances) for the year so I wouldn't be giving the govt such a huge free loan throughout the year.

My job always waits until the very last minute to get my W2s to me...but I expect a massive chunk since I claim 0.
I know I could change that and get more money, but this is pretty much the only way I get a large chunk of money all at once anymore.

I don't get my W-2 until next week.

For the last 5 or so years I've averaged around $1000 and I'm hoping that doesn't change.

Although, for the last 5 years I've averaged spending a majority of that on MDF.....

I got 4K back.

That was the good part about being a dad.

Then my transmission in the bloody falcon went.

Then the tax check went.

Last year I got quite a lot back. This year probably more. I use it to make a down payment on a new car.

Does anyone wanna buy the car that grindcore paid for?

About a grand, state and fed combined (I claim '0' as well), based on some figuring during lunch break today, I had previously guess-timated a bit more than that so hopefully my rush job missed something.

Oh also, while I was going through my exercise I noticed the 'making work pay' or something tax credit this year. Usually I don't qualify for any tax credits but apparently I do for this one, so if you are like me and generally assume you don't get any credits you might want to not glaze over that section when you do your taxes this year because you might get a little more back.

I will be close to breaking even this year, like every year. I do not want to owe a lot and I goddamn sure do not want the government to use my money for free all year and give it back to me interest free.

Shit, California and Arizona will probably start doing IOU's soon for state tax because of how fucked their financial situation is. I will take my chances with oweing a small amount to them at the end of the year.

If by business you mean, killing babies in the Middle East
Ahhh - Of course - Der.

My cousin got out of Artillery a few ago and bought a brand new Ford XR8 in cash when he got his tax check back for two years tax returns.

Because in recent years, I've always ended up owing when I claim "1", so I claim "0" because when I weigh the interest I might have made on my potential future refund if I save it against the likelihood I would probably spend a good portion of it and cancel that out and then end up having to pay a bunch in April rather than get a nice little boost of dollarbux, the big refund works better for me than the imaginary interest that would never materialize.

Very scientific, as you can clearly see. If I made more money, or currently had more savings, I would probably claim 1 or 2 exemptions and earn interest on whatever I manage not to spend. I actually just changed my exemption to 1 since I'll have a precious little deduction for most of this year and too off-set my 401k deduction.

I'd rather get a root canal than deal with my taxes this time, seeing as I moved from Portland to Anchorage and worked in three states last year.
H&R cocksucker is going to rape me, but this will be the last time.
